Created in every individual is a spiritual void. Like a vacuum, this void is designed to be filled. During the early period of life it remains empty as the individual is presented with two diametrically opposed filling agents–righteousness and sin. Upon arriving at the age of accountability–the age at which one can discern the difference–man chooses. Invariably, as did Adam and Eve, he chooses sin.
Satan cannot prevent the void from developing in man. Nor can he determine with what man will fill it. He simply presents his user-friendly filler and man chooses it and calls it “human nature,” which is in reality Satan’s nature which man embraces. This places the devil in charge of man’s life. All is well for him. His only competition is God, which man auto- matically rejects as did his original parents.
However, God’s still, small voice continues to be heard by man. The vast majority simply ignore it. In an attempt to fill the void, a few men dabble in the realm of religion. Some, not finding what they want, move on. Others remain connected to their chosen religion–man’s version of God’s Way which he calls by such names as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc.–throughout their lives. Having been spiritually immunized from God’s Way by those he follows, man believes that his chosen way will take him to heaven, nirvana, etc. where he will spend eternity. This is Satan’s “Bait and Switch” agenda working to perfection.
Though Satan cannot prevent man from filling his void, he does influence man relative to his chosen filling agent. Let us take Christendom as our example. Man feels the need for his void to be filled with something beyond himself. Satan has a variety of “filling stations” (churches) available to fill the void of everyone who has come in contact with “the church.” Satan’s “bait” is God’s Truth–the Holy Bible (Jn. 17:17) which he is told will fill his void. The “switch” comes about when man acts to fill the void.
Having answered God’s call to Himself, man is drawn toward the only void-filler to which he has ever been exposed–the Institutional Church (Catholicism/Protestantism). Having been lured into following those who quote selected Scriptures (the bait) that describe the strait gait and narrow way that lead to life, the seeker follows Scripture-quoters through the wide gate and along the broad way of Counterfeit Christianity that lead to destruction (Mat. 7:13,14). His void filled with Satan’s “truths,” Scripturally-ignorant man goes happily on his way, convinced that all is well between himself and God. And should he at some point find that the “food” being presented no longer satisfies his appetite, he can shop around for more suitable fare with which to indulge himself.
But occasionally, though extremely rarely, a man will wonder if what he is being told is in fact Bible Truth and will consult the Book which is the Truth (Jn. 17:17). By diligently searching for the Truth, the seeker becomes one of the “few” who “find” it (Mat. 7:13,14). This website is designed to help the spiritually hungry seeker find God’s spiritual food. I pray that you are famished. If so, come and dine.
