The Biblical God uses two “voices” to speak to mankind. He speaks to the world’s masses through His “natural” voice–acts of nature–which can be understood by the most Scripturally ignorant and unbelieving among us. Many times one hears statements such as, “God is trying to tell us something” coming even from the unchurched when a “natural” tragedy occurs. A minor correction needs to be made in the statement. In the past God wasn’t TRYING to tell us something, He WAS telling us something– “Get your spiritual house in order or pay the consequences.” Because man has passed the point of no return, God has turned His back on him. Today He is again speaking through nature, but His message is different. Today He is telling mankind that time has run out. Man must get ready to face the consequences of 6000 years of rebellion against Him.

God also speaks to man through His Holy Spirit. Only those who spend open-hearted time with Him in prayer and Bible study have spiritual ears to hear what He is saying, and saying only to them. It is the job of these people to “… shout from the housetops” the Words the Lord is silently speaking to them during their times of togetherness with Him (Lk. 12:3). In this passage Jesus is speaking to His disciples whom He would later send into all the world to “shout out” the things received from Him. And shout it out they did, taking and sending His Word around the world.

Where are those voices today? Anciently God’s men stood in the face of evil, called it what it was and willingly suffered the consequences. And they did so continually. It was not a Sabbath pronouncement delivered to a select group before moving on to more important subjects. PROCLAIMING GOD’S WARNINGS TO TRUTH SEEKERS WAS THEIR CALLING–THEIR ONLY CALLING. Everything else was merely a byproduct of their commission. God’s called, appointed and anointed ministers fulfilled His commission to preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God and the penalty for missing it. This they did faithfully, for which many paid the ultimate price.

Where are those voices today? Who is standing in the face of Catholicism/Protestantism and denouncing their heathen ways? Where are those wielding the “sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God” (Eph. 6:17)” that is “good for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16)? Where are the spiritual descendants of God’s ancient heroes today? Where are men of spiritual spine who, in the face of overwhelming odds, will stand and pronounce the Lord’s judgment upon the church as she slides into Satan’s abyss while pulling the nation along in her wake?
