God’s Holy Days (cont. 2)

The following Scriptures prove that the New Covenant Church diligently kept the seasons/festivals/Holy Days of the Lord until the last apostle died. With those powerful, no-compromising men out of the way, liberalism took over which led to the creation of Catholicism. These passages tell of the apostles’ desire to be in certain cities on the Holy Days. Why if not to celebrate them with the people in those areas.

Acts 20:6,16 tells of Paul and others sailing from Philippi  “… after the DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD” (which follows immediately after Passover). They hastened in order to “… be in Jerusalem for THE DAY OF PENTECOST” (which follows 50 days after Passover). Because believers often stayed in Jerusalem over the 50 days following Passover there were many devout Jews in Jerusalem to whom Peter preached on Pentecost after the Holy Spirit had fallen on those in the upper room, causing a stir in the city. In 1 Corinthians 5:7,8 Paul stated that because “… Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us, LET US KEEP THE FEAST” (of the “High Day” following Passover). In Acts 12:3 we find Luke telling about the arrest of Peter during “… these were the DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD.” In acts 27:9 Luke writes of a time when “… sailing was now dangerous because THE FAST was now already past.” The fast referred to the DAY OF ATONEMENT– an annual day of fasting which comes about in the Fall after winter has set in and storms are frequent. Why would these New Covenant leaders strive to keep God’s Holy Days some 30 years after the founding of the New Covenant Church–the Israel of God (Gal. 6:16)–if she was no longer observing them? The Counterfeit Church has no Biblical answer. To be continued. L.J.
