The Sword and the Feather

The minutely few men who know and believe God’s Word and have the spiritual spine to speak and write it are often accused of being harsh and negative. Jesus laid the foundation for the ministry of God’s Word in Matthew 10:34-40: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword.” He went on to say that His Sword/Word would separate those who believe and obey it from those who do not. Families were not exempt from this separation. If any- one refused to obey Him due to fear of losing one’s family, that person was not fit for the kingdom. Spiritual separation from loved ones and friends is the cross a true believer must be prepared to bear. Failure to bear that cross causes one to lose his/her life. Only those who want God’s Truth regardless of the cost will stand by the true believer.

Knowing that the rider on the white horse (false religion) would conquer the masses (Rev. 6:2), Jesus repeatedly warned those who followed Him against honey-speakers with their smooth words (Isa. 30:10) and unconditional promises. He and those who would minister for Him until the end of the age (Mat. 28:19,20) would wield His Sword of the Spirit (His Word-Rev. 1:16;2:12;19;15,21/Eph. 6:17/Heb. 4:12) which lays asunder man’s false Christianity, exposing it for what it is–Satan’s perversion of His True Gospel (Gal. 1:6,7) which is “… the faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3). Those who contend for His faith/gospel, being at war with Satan (Eph. 5:11) and his church system, will not remain unscathed. To proclaim that the Bible is God’s Truth is to both suffer and inflict many wounds.

Those with itching ears want them scratched. Satan has provided the gentle feather with which to satisfy man’s continuous itch–smooth words of guaranteed salvation and self-directed living. No restrictions–only promises/ No Law–only grace. The Serpent began his ear-scratching assault in the Garden of Eden where he contradicted God’s direct, no-option, “My Way or the highway” Law by offering Adam and Eve a kinder, gentler way which, he pointed out, would not only lead to the same destination–eternal life–but would make getting there much easier. Nothing has changed over the centuries. Man embraces Satan’s feather/church doctrine while rejecting God’s Sword/Word which, as Hebrews 4:12 tells us, is “… quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and mar- row, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The reason for wielding the Word/Sword of God is to expose everything within man that does not line up with it. In 2 Timothy 3:15 God said that the Scriptures were good for … CORRECTION.  Man hates correction. He views those whom God sends to correct him as his enemies.

To those who come against the Word/Sword when it is presented to them, please read the epistles carefully. They are pri- marily letters of WARNING. The apostles wrote in response to the spiritual needs of the churches, warning them that in order to meet the Lord in the air at His coming (1 Thes. 4:16) they had to walk as He walked until that time (1 Jn. 2:6), thereby overcoming Satan even as He overcame him (Rev. 3:21). Only those who do so will sit with Him on His throne. These Words were written “… for our instruction” (1 Cor. 10:11). But woe to the man who speaks or writes god’s Truth for religious man’s instruction. You have been warned.
