A small number of human beings living today, as well as in the past, will one day judge the most awesome, magnificent, breath-taking spiritual beings ever created by almighty God. Those incredible beings are Biblically called angels. Since their creation they have been second in power and magnificence only to the members of the Godhead–God and the Word Who became Jesus Christ. However, as this series will prove, one day the mighty honor, status and appearance of the mighty angels will be eclipsed by a “remnant” of people who, during their human lifetimes, had overcome the temptations of Satan, thereby earning the right to live forever in the Kingdom of God as His family members. Read Matthew 7:13,14 and 20:16. Note the word “few” in both passages.
I ended the previous posting by reminding readers of Hebrews 2:5 where the Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, stated: “For unto the angels has He (God) NOT put in subjection the world to come ….” If the future universe is not to be ruled by angels, who will rule it? Who will the Almighty put in charge of what the Godhead created? A “few” Godly human beings will one day rule everything–INCLUDING ANGELS. So says your Bible.
“But one is a certain place testified, saying: ‘What is man, that you are mindful of him? or the son of man, that you visit him? You made him (man) a little [while] lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor and set him over the works of your hands (the earth–read The Unknown Power–key word–Unknown). You put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that He (God) put all in subjection under his [man’s] feet, He left nothing that is not put under him. But at THIS TIME (now) we do not yet see all things put under him” (Heb. 2:6-8). Until God transforms us into spirit beings (are born again–read that series. Key word–Born), we will remain far less brilliant and less powerful than angels. That will change upon the return of Jesus Christ at His Second Advent when the first resurrection–the resurrection of the just and holy–will take place. These will be the “few” Paul was referring to in his letter to the Hebrew converts.
In the eyes of God, everything He has planned and prophesied has already taken place. Recall that the Book of Revelation is written in past tense, though it was a prophecy that described events that would take place many generations in the future. We are living in the beginning stage of that prophesied time.
In the near future mortal human beings, having been BORN AGAIN–changed from flesh to spirit bodily composition–will receive power and honor that will make the glory of the angels pale by comparison. “And God said, ‘Let us (Himself and the Word–Jn. 1:1-4,14) make man in our image, after our likeness ….'” (Gen. 1:26). God (Elohim–Gods) created man in Their (bodily) likeness, having the same appearance. More importantly, They created man in Their image, having the potential to be like Them in character–having the same mind (1 Cor. 2:16/ Phil. 2:5). Note in the Apostle Paul’s letters he tells us that WE CAN HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST NOW. IN FACT, IF WE ARE TO RISE IN THE FIRST RESURRECTION WE MUST HAVE “THE MIND THAT WAS IN CHRIST JESUS” WHEN HE WALKED THIS EARTH AS A MAN. Notice in the Philippians passage the word “LET.” THE CHOICE BETWEEN HUMAN AND GODLY MIND IS OURS TO MAKE–NOW. SO SAYS YOUR BIBLE.
Traditional Christianity tells us that everyone who has ever completed their church’s prescribed ritual will go to heaven, etc. First, no one is going to heaven–ever. And second, obeying the doctrines of traditional Christianity would not get one into heaven even if heaven was an option. Read Life After Death. Key word–What.
Even Jesus Christ was once a little lower than the angels. As a man He had to be like all other men in order to be the savior of mankind. He had to endure the same Satanic attacks and be victorious over them in order to fulfill His commission. As He did, so must we. Our commission is to “walk as He walked” (1 Jn. 2:6) and to “… overcome (Satan) even as I (Jesus) overcame [him]” (Rev. 3:21). We are told this Truth in Hebrews 2:9,10. “But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man. For it became Him, for Whom are all things and by Him are all things [created], for the purpose of bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” Notice that even Jesus had to be tempted and tried as are we. He also had to be victorious over the tempter, as must we. Jesus had a choice. He CHOOSE to walk in holiness, as must we if we plan to spend eternity with Him in the Kingdom of God. How can we neglect so great a salvation? (vs 3) as do so-called “sinners saved by grace.” Did Christ, our example, sin? Contrary to universal church opinion, Jesus died to give us power OVER sin, not power TO sin and get away with it. He died in order to make available to us the Holy Spirit whose power enables us to OVERCOME SATAN AS DID HE.” Read The Message of the Cross. Key word–Message.
Now you know why the church hates God’s “fine print,” which comprises about 90% of the Holy Scriptures. Rather than hate it as do all “sinners saved by grace,” we must embrace it, learn it, believe it and obey it in order to sit with Jesus on His throne in His Father’s kingdom, rule the universe and have angels do our bidding. As is always the case in spiritual matters, one tiny word determines whether we reign in victory or go down in defeat–IF. L.J.
