What is referred to as “A woman’s legal right” is only a half right statement.  It still takes two to make a baby.  Therefore, according to the popular slogan quoted above, if the female can legally kill an unborn child, the male also has the legal right to kill an unborn child.  The State of Texas recently passed what is called the “Heartbeat Law” which limits legal abortions to the first five or six weeks of pregnancy.  Which, according to God, is five or six weeks too long.  For this reason I am revisiting the abortion issue.

I hear all manner of rhetoric relative to the child murder issue.  Incredibly, some of those advocating the legal murder of the unborn wear crosses as they advocate for the right to kill the innocent and to help others kill them.  There is a “Christian sin is okay with God” attitude that runs rampant throughout professing Christendom.  And it is not limited to murder.  Recently I saw a film of a woman robbing a store at gunpoint.  She was wearing a cross in her exposed cleavage.  In another clip I watched a man rob a restaurant at gunpoint.  Pointing his pistol at the customers, he had them empty their pockets, then leave the restaurant, including the manager, who just happened to have a key to the store’s front door.  Upon leaving, he locked the door.  Soon he realized that he was locked in the room, brandishing a gun while a camera was rolling.  I had to laugh as a microphone picked up his voice.  I could clearly hear him asking God to get him out of the situation.  Not surprisingly, this “Christian” had a huge cross tattooed on his forehead.  I assumed that he had been in church the previous Sunday.

Sin while bearing the name of the Lord is not a new thing, nor does it have limited options.  For example, one cross-wearing whore had three illegitimate children who went to church with her every Sunday where she sang solos before listening to her father preach about God’s selective blindness relative to her and her fellow parishioners’ sins.  Two young women once told me that their preacher said it was okay for them to have sex with their boyfriends.  I suspect he was also enjoying the pleasures of their company.  Another preacher, a famous evangelist, told about a pastor who, when he (the evangelist) came to preach a revival at his (the pastor’s) church, the pastor assigned two young women to be his “spare tires.”  Their assignment was to meet his sexual needs while in town.  After bragging about the woman he had spent the previous night with, a famous singer looked into a camera and sang, “What a friend we have in Jesus.”  I can almost hear, “Not in my church,” coming from those who will attend one of Satan’s citadels of sin come Sunday–the day sun worshipers worship their god.  These would be the same churches that are now making plans for their annual Christmas celebration.

Unbelievably, a recent poll stated that 46% of evangelicals–supposedly the “true believers” within Christendom–were in favor of abortion on demand.

According to today’s mindset, evangelicals would counsel both Mary and Elizabeth to abort their babies, thereby ending the lives of Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist.  For Mary, her child would be considered an embarrassment at best and an inconvenience at worst.  For Elizabeth, she was simply too old to be having a child.  Planned Parenthood would have been sending them voice-mail invitations to a one-stop fix at Murder Central.  The Federal Government would be offering to pay for the procedure.  Planned Parenthood would sell the body parts and bring in additional cash.  The purchasers would use the parts for experiments.  Mommy dearest would be rid of her inconvenient problem.  Everyone involved would win.  Well, not everyone.  A little human being created in the image of God would be the lone loser.  Am I the only one who thinks God might be loading his wrath guns?  Maybe another round of COVID is in order.  Or perhaps an nation-splitting earthquake, or a world-wide famine, or another world war, or yet another type of pandemic, or ….  God has an endless supply of wrath.

The ultimate question relative to professing believers and the abortion issue revolves around WHEN GOD SAYS HUMAN LIFE BEGINS.  The answer to that question would dictate whether we as a civilized world approve of the murder of innocent human beings.  Fortunately, the Almighty stated plainly when Jesus became a human being.  And because He was a man like all other men and walked through this life as do all other men (Heb. 4:15), can we not use His becoming-human date to determine when the rest of humanity became human beings?

The answer comes blaring out of His Holy Bible in Psalm 2:7/ Acts 13:33/ Hebrews 2:5; 5:5: “Thou (Jesus) art MY BELOVED SON, THIS DAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN THEE.”   Throughout the Bible the word “Son” referencing Jesus of Nazareth is used approximately 170 times.  In each instance the word–“Son” (Gr.-huios/ Heb.-ben)–means child of, descendant of, offspring of, fathered by, begotten of/by.  In Matthew 1 we find a long list of people who begat (initiated–provided the sperm for–the conception of) other human beings.  This is important relative to the next passage.

As stated in the previous paragraph, we find God Himself saying about Jesus, “Thou art My Son, this day I have begotten You.”  This statement was made when Jesus was a one day (or less) fertilized egg (zygote).  Compare that statement to His proclamation found in Mark 1:11: “Thou art My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased.”  This statement was made when Jesus was 29.  Notice that God’s Word–“SON”– IS THE SAME IN BOTH INSTANCES.  GOD USED THE SAME WORD TO DESCRIBE A DAY OLD ZYGOTE AND A 29 YEAR OLD MAN.  GOD VIEWED ONE DAY OLD (OR LESS) JESUS THE SAME AS HE VIEWED 29 YEAR OLD JESUS.  THEREFORE, JESUS WAS AS MUCH A HUMAN BEING AT ONE DAY OLD AS HE WAS AT AGE 29.  CASE CLOSED FOR TRUTH-SEEKING PEOPLE.  

The day Jesus was conceived (begotten) He was, in His Father’s eyes, as much a human being as He was the day He died.  For those who claim God as their spiritual Father, this should end the abortion controversy.  Of course, it will not.  Convenience and expediency will always win out when right and wrong are under consideration.   When the irreligious and half of the religious agree that human life begins when it is convenient for it to begin, the right to murder the unborn will remain in force.  The slaughter will continue.  L.J.
