First John 1:1,2 holds a wealth of Truth, which is Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6). In verse two John states that eternal Life (Jesus) was manifested and shown unto men. Jesus is The Life, meaning that to inherit eternal life we must manifest that life by “… walk(ing) as He walked” (1 Jn. 2:6). To have life we must emulate The Life (Jesus). To live with Him in paradise we must live as He lived as a man. The church refutes this, contending that one need only believe in Jesus to receive the promise. And Satan smiles.
Peter spoke some of the Bible’s most profound words in answering Jesus’ question relative to the 12 disciples leaving Him as had others: “Where would we go, Thou hast the Words of eternal life?” (Jn. 6:68). Notice that he did not say that knowing and believing Christ’s Words would save them. He knew that nothing less than belief in and obedience to those Words would produce salvation. As James said, faith does not save.
In John 5:38-42 Jesus is speaking to a group of unbelieving Jews: “… ye have not His (God’s) Word abiding in you; for Whom He sent (Jesus), Him ye do not believe. Search the Scriptures (Old Testament–the only Scriptures in existence at that time), for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they … testify of Me. And ye will not come to Me that ye might have eternal life … because ye do not have the love of God in you.” Those Jews thought they had life because they had God’s Word. They were mistaken. Jesus obeyed God because He loved Him. His disciples do so for the same reason.
In John 10:26-28 Jesus distinguishes between those who call themselves His sheep and those who are His sheep:”… ye believe not (His Words) because ye are not My sheep … My sheep hear My voice (Words) and I know them and the follow Me.” Here he highlights the deciding factor that separates contenders from pretenders–obedience to His Words.
Paul echoes Christ’s sentiments in Romans 2:7 where he describes His sheep as: “… them who by patient continuance in WELL DOING, seek for glory, honor and immortality (eternal life). Glory, honor and peace (comes to) every man that WORKETH GOOD ….” Note Christ’s and Paul’s emphasis on DOING AND WORKING–obeying God’s Words. The church rejects these words, claiming that faith alone guarantees salvation.
This concludes the initial portion of what will be an extensive teaching series designed to highlight the pagan theology that dominates the Counterfeit Church. At this time I will introduce myself, in that readers need to know a little about the one doing the writing. I am Dr. Larry L. Jaques, age 73, a retired professor of sociology. I come from a Baptist, Church of Christ, Pentecostal background with a smattering of Catholicism. I was called early on in life to believe God’s Word, which resulted in my rejecting most of what I had been taught by the church. I have lived long enough to witness the slide of so-called Christianity into the religious abyss in which it finds itself today. My God-assigned ministry is to tell those with ears to hear and eyes to see that the Institutional Church is God’s most sinister enemy in that it pretends to be His ally–it is “great darkness” in that it pretends to be the light to which He is calling the masses. My mission is to touch that one in 10,000 who wants to know the Truth and is willing to suffer the consequences for doing so–rejection, ostracism, even hatred on the part of family, friends and churchmates. To be God’s light means to expose darkness. The Counterfeit Church thrives in darkness, so when its heathen soul is exposed it fights back like a cornered animal. Hell hath no fury like a spiritual giant who has been exposed as a religious dwarf. Continue on this website if you want to know God’s Truth. If not, go back to church. Larry L. Jaques P.O.
