Many years ago, before the Lord had revealed His whole Truth to me, I found myself in a “multi-faith” meeting in which people from “all faiths” had come together to convince ourselves and each other that we were all serving the same God were all the apples of His eye. I had just entered the room where the “holy conclave” would be taking place when a man came up to me and asked: “What faith are you?” I have no doubt that God sent him to me for this reason: HE WANTED ME TO REALIZE THAT HE WOULD NOT BE INVOLVED IN THE MEETING, THAT THE ATTENDEES WERE NOT MEMBERS OF HIS CHURCH–INCLUDING ME. THERE WAS NOT ONE BIBLICALLY-DEFINED CHRISTIAN IN THAT BUILDING. THE MESSAGE WAS CLEAR: THE ALMIGHTY WAS CALLING ME OUT OF “THE CHURCH,” OUT OF CHURCH-DEFINED CHRISTIANITY AND OUT OF THE WORLD THE CHURCH HAD SO COMPLETELY EMBRACED.
The incredibly patient God in heaven had been speaking to me for quite some time, showing me what He had called me to BE and to DO. He had called me to BE HOLY AS HE IS HOLY (1 Pet. 1:15,16) and to DO AS JESUS DID, AND EVEN GREATER THINGS THAN HE DID (Jn 14:12). You are probably wondering why had I not already come out of that unclean thing (2 Cor. 6:14-7:1). His call, though welcomed and cherished, created a huge problem for me.
My problem revolved around the fact that, if I did what He was commanding me to do–SPEAK HIS HOLY WORD AS WRITTEN IN HIS HOLY BIBLE–it would bring my preaching, healing, deliverance, miracle ministry to an abrupt end. If I obeyed Him by preaching His Truth the people to whom I had ministered with Holy Spirit power would see how fast they could separate themselves from me. The ministry would be nothing but a memory. Why would those church people who came to hear me preach and watch as God healed the physically sick and deliver the spiritually bound through me, suddenly thrust me out of their lives? Why would people who believed in the miracle-working God no longer want anything to do with me? The reason for their attitude remains the same to this day. People reject me because I speak God’s Truth and reject the church’s various versions of truth. God’s Truth hurts, and religious people do not like pain, even when the pain is caused by the Sword of the Spirit–God’s Holy Word. THE UNHOLY CHURCH HATES GOD’S HOLY WORD. From the most revered to the newest member, THE LAST THING “THE CHURCH” WANTS TO HEAR IS GOD’S TRUTH, HIS GOSPEL, HIS LIGHT, HIS LAW BY WHICH HE GOVERNS/RULES HIS TRUE SAINTS.
The problem is that church people refuse to embrace the spiritual pain that comes from being corrected. As the Lord tells us in Second Timothy 3:15,16, the Holy Scriptures, which are ABLE to make us wise UNTO SALVATION through Christ-level FAITH which is possessed only by those who are IN Christ Jesus. In his letter to Timothy, Paul explains the importance of God’s Word relative to His saints: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and are essential for FORMULATING DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION and for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS so that God’s people become PERFECT, fully equipped for ALL GOOD WORKS” (obedience to His Word). Pride and fear prevent church people from leaving Satan and embracing the Lord. And why should they? After all, aren’t they all saved and born again? The Holy Scriptures cry out to them, “YOU ARE NEITHER SAVED NOR BORN AGAIN,” which is what the Bible they own tells them, which is why much of it is ignored. My ministry is to remind the church world of the parts of God’s Word they reject. It is that part that produces spiritual pain. That Word is truly “sharper than any (man-made)two-edged sword.”
Paul’s ministerial problems were not limited to his Gentile converts. He had the same problems when dealing with some of converted Israelites (Hebrews). At one point he told them that they were “dull of hearing” (Heb. 5:11). Jesus described such people as “the blind led by the blind,” both of whom “fall into Satan’s ditch” (Mat. 15:14). I am not surprised that GOD’S TRUTH HAS NO PLACE IN THE HEARTS OF CHURCH PEOPLE. SATAN’S WAY IS MUCH EASIER AND MORE SELF-ORIENTED. JUST ASK ADAM AND EVE.
The basic problem experienced by the Apostle Paul involved what he wrote about in Romans 1:5,12, and what Moses wrote in Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28, and what Jesus said as recorded in Matthew 15:21-23/ 19:17, and what John wrote in 8:31; 14:15; 15:10,13,14 and in First John 2:3-5; 3:1-10. THE PROBLEM involves a two-letter word upon which every promise found in the Holy Bible depends. That small, all-powerful, fate-determining word is “IF.” Simply stated: EVERY PROMISE OF GOD HAS A CAVEAT (CONDITION) THAT MUST BE MET IN ORDER FOR GOD’S PROMISES TO BECOME REALITIES. THAT CONDITION IS SUMMED UP IN THE WORD “IF.” That Word, combined with another, equally-important, equally-hated Word, determines one’s place in the present and future Kingdom of God. That Word is “OBEDIENCE.” Notice how many times the word “IF” is connected to obedience to God’s Word/Law. Church people hate the Biblically-proclaimed Truth that God requires both FAITH IN and OBEDIENCE TO His Holy Word/ Law/ Truth/ Gospel in order to receive His promised blessings, including salvation/rebirth. Read Born Again. Key word–Born.
Those two rejected, hated, despised, God-spoken Words are what has caused professing Christendom to separate herself from the true God and to embrace a new god–the “god of this world” (2 Cor. 4:4) whose name is SATAN. As Isaiah told the people of his day, their sins (Law-breaking) had separated them from their God (59:2). The New Testament Church was prophesied to separate from Her Founder in Second Thessalonians 2:3. Here Paul was writing to the church about the return (Second Advent) of Jesus Christ to gather His people to Him and take them to the Promised Land where He will establish the Kingdom of God. Paul, writing in 51 A.D., foretold that, before Christ’s returns there would take place a great “falling away” of the church. In the Greek language the word used to describe this terrible phenomenon is “apostasy.” By using the word as the key you can read about the church’s spiritual decline while watching it take place.
The church’s rejection of the Holy Scriptures began early on in the history of the New Testament Church. Paul warned about the church’s rejection of the Lord’s Gospel in his letter to the churches of Galatia written between 19 and 29 years after the founding of New Testament Church in 31 A.D. Here he states: “I marvel that you have so quickly rejected the One Who called you … and have embraced ANOTHER GOSPEL.” Note in Luke 10:16 that to reject any part of the Gospel is to DESPISE both Father and Son. Paul goes on to say that this “other Gospel” the Galatians had embraced was actually not another Gospel, but was rather a perversion of God’s true Gospel. The different perversions of God’s Word have resulted in hundreds of religious denominations. Paul went on to say that the churches had been deceived by false prophets who would receive a double curse from God (Gal. 1:6-9) for having led people away from the one and only Truth. How this is possible is explained in two series whose titles are: Who are God’s People? and “My People who are Called by My Name.” Key words–People and Called respectively.
Paul sent basically the same message to the church at Corinth as recorded in Second Corinthians 11:4,13-15. Here he tells the people that if someone presented to them “another Jesus,” “another Gospel” and “another Spirit” they would believe them. History has proven him right. Paul goes on to warn the churches that such preachers are “false apostles, deceitful workers who pretend to be apostles of Christ.” Such men serve Satan who presents himself as an “angel of light.” Satan provides hundreds of man-centered, self-serving, user-friendly versions of God’s Gospel which professing Christendom has whole-heartedly embraced. This apostasy has produced hundreds of DENOMINATIONS which God rejects. The home page of this website lists a few of the church’s “truths” that have become foundation stones of the different versions of God’s one-and-only, iron-clad, take-it-or-leave-it, His-way-or-the-highway, all-or-nothing-at-all Gospel. Most of the church’s “truths” listed in the first paragraph were adopted from Babylonian mystery religions during the mid-300’s A.D. Read Simon of Samaria. Key Word–Simon. L.J.
