“We follow the science” has become the motto of those who are supposed to know what to do in difficult situations such as the COVID pandemic.  Listen to what God calls the type of science the world’s intelligencia religiously follow, swear by and unerringly serve: “science falsely so-called” (1 Tim. 6:20).

The word “science” covers every type of human endeavor–physical, mental, social, economic, political, military, medical …. You name it, there is a body of work that is considered the “scientific truth” concerning that subject.  People, even religious people, will quote science books and “know” that, because the information comes from the scientific world, it is without a doubt “factual.”  Those same people view the Book written by the One Who created everything with mental evaluations ranging from doubt to total disbelief.  In other words, he values his own explanations, truths and facts over those of the Lord.

Never in the history of mankind has there been so much knowledge available.  Not only is there great amounts of knowledge, in every area of life knowledge is increasing exponentially.  Yet there seems to be a never ending stream of problems coming man’s way.  It seems that just when man comes up with a solution to one problem, a problem develops from the one that was just solved.  For example, “COVID-19” refers to the 19th variation of the COVID virus.  And look at the variations that have sprouted up since #19 came on the scene.  With so much knowledge, why do we have so many problems?  Isn’t the very purpose of knowledge to solve problems?

Now more than ever in human history, human beings have enormous amounts of knowledge, as well as enormous numbers of problems.  One need only turn on the news to learn of yet another calamity that man is having to face.  Not only are there problems arising from “nature” which are understandable,  but look at what man is doing to his fellow man, as well as to himself.  Doesn’t knowledge solve problems?  Doesn’t knowledge make us better human beings?

Within the human realm, knowledge is multiplying exponentially, yet finding the TRUTH has never been more difficult.  Finding knowledge has always been relatively easy.  However, finding TRUTH seems to be a gut-wrenching ordeal.  So much so that, as Jesus said in Matthew 7:13,14: “… few there be that find it.”  That means that for most people finding truth is virtually impossible.  But man has the solution to the problem–false knowledge.  For all but the most persistent truth hunters, false knowledge is so much more fun and a great deal more satisfying than true knowledge.  For example, false knowledge: “One needs only to believe in Jesus to be saved now.”  Isn’t that great.  Now true knowledge: “If you will have life, obey the commandments.”  Most salvation seekers choose false knowledge.  What was yesterday’s lie is today’s truth.  Satan’s first lie to mankind is now “gospel truth”: “You shall not surely die.”

As a result we are living in a POST-TRUTH AGE in which objective truths and facts rarely determine which “knowledge” is put forth as real and which is proclaimed to be false.  The farther from the truth an item of knowledge is. the faster and more widely proclaimed it will be.  For example: recently two repeatedly proclaimed “truths” that were proved to be totally false.  Those “absolutely undeniable truths” concerned the Russian influence on our last election and the source of COVID-19, both of which were conjured up to conceal the real truth.  But the false remains “true” in both cases.

Truth, we are now being told, is both subjective and circumstantial.  For example, whether one is male or female is subject to the desire of the person involved.  Also, the sexual designation can change from moment to moment depending on the circumstance.  For example, one might be a male in the morning during academic classes, then become a female during physical education class.  Everyone, it seems, now has “individual truth.”  If, as we are told, one can be the sex one wants to be, can one not be the species one wants to be?  Believe it or not, there are people who believe they are part animal or bird.  They have body parts (ears, teeth, etc.) altered to match those of their animal relatives.  One fellow, believing that he is part parrot, had his ears removed because parrots do not have external ears.  He also wears a fake beak.

We are living in a pandemic–a pandemic of confusion, disinformation and lies in which people are taken seriously who say that there is no such thing as absolute truth.  This comes as no surprise to those who know God and His Word.  This lunacy was prophesied many years ago by the Apostle Paul and earlier by the Prophet Isaiah who said that there would come a time when people: “will not endure sound doctrine,” but instead will “turn away their ears from the truth and turn to fables” (Isa. 30:9,10/ 2 Tim. 4:3,4).  Those fables are, for many people, truths.  Read the Introduction to this website for a short list of such “truths.”

The question now becomes: FROM WHENCE DOES FALSE KNOWLEDGE COME?  God tells us in His Holy Bible.  There is a source of wrong knowledge and outright lies.  There is a source of all evil and suffering.  There is a mind from which all that is unholy originates.  That source is Satan, the devil (enemy).  John 8:44, 2 Corinthians 4:4 and Revelation 12:9 tell us that there is no truth in Satan, that when he speaks (through men) he speaks his own mind which is filled with lies.  He is a liar and the father of it.  The Bible says that this evil, wicked being is the god of this world which he has deceived in to worshiping and serving him.  Over two billion of them are called Catholics and Protestants.  If God is right, that explains what we see going on around us?

An ultimately disturbing fact relative to knowledge is that most people do not want to know the truth.  Like the people the Prophet Isaiah dealt with, today’s worldly population want to hear smooth things and deceits.  They reject anything that causes them to feel less than wonderful (Isa. 30:10).  Fantasy is preferred over reality.  Why?  Because fantasy can be manipulated to fit the desires of the hearer or viewer.

The truth is that people do not like truth.  That is why people in leadership positions lie.  They know that if they tell the truth they will not gain leadership positions which equate to power.  Man doesn’t like truth because it is often embarrassing and hurtful.  Fantasy makes man feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Anything that does that must be truth.  L.J.
