The Two Faces Of Fear (Pt. 3)

In the Book of Exodus we find the Israelites’ being brought out of Egyptian slavery by God (the Word Who became Jesus of Nazareth–Jn. 1:1-4,14) and led by the Prophet Moses.  Later we find them at the foot of Mt. Sinai where God is preparing to speak to them audibly.  Having called Moses to the top of the mountain, He spoke to him from heaven concerning how to prepare the people for the message He would personally give them.  He said to Moses: “You will tell the children of Israel, ‘You saw what I did to the Egyptians and how I brought you out of Egypt and to Myself.’  Tell them that IF they obey My voice (Words) and keep My covenant (the Ten Commandments), THEN they will be a peculiar treasure to Me above all other people on earth ….  They will be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation ….”  Note that He emphasized the “IF” caveat.  Every promise of God is accompanied by the same “IF” condition.

Following his meeting with God, Moses descended down to where an estimated 3,ooo,ooo Israelites were waiting for him.  He told them what God had said.  With one voice the people replied: “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.”  Moses then returned to God and told Him what the people had said.  He was instructed to sanctify the people for He, God Himself, would come down to the top of Mt. Sinai and speak to the people.  They had to be spiritually ready to hear His voice/Words.  THE PEOPLE WOULD HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD.

Three days later God descended from heaven to the top of Mt. Sinai and summoned Moses to join Him there.  The Lord then spoke to the people the Ten Commandments by which He would govern them and their descendants from that time forward.  As He spoke, thunder rolled across the sky, lightning flashed and a trumpet sounded sounding as the top of the the mountain became engulfed in smoke.  Terrified, the people ran away from the mountain and “stood afar off.”  When Moses came to where they had a message for him.  This message negatively affects their descendants unto this day.  They said to him:  “If you speak to us we will hear you.  But we do not want God to speak to us.  For if we hear His Words we will die.”

The irony of this situation is obvious.  The very Words God spoke which were designed to bring them life, they believed would bring them death.  Satan had already turned them away from their God and to himself.  The Biblical history of the Israelites reflects this Truth.  Though they have remained super religious unto this day, they have obeyed Satan and thereby remain spiritually separated from God (Isa. 29:2).  That which calls itself the New Testament (Catholic/Protestant) Church remains separated from God to this day as this website was designed by Him to prove, and does prove.

Israel had seen what the Almighty had done to the Egyptians on their behalf, how He poured out curse after curse on them, then forced the Egyptians to give them their gold and other treasures before they marched to freedom.  Following their departure from slavery He had opened the Red Sea so that they could cross over on dry land.  During their journey to Mt. Sinai He had miraculously provided water and food.  After all He had done for them in their sight, THEY DID NOT WANT TO HEAR HIS VOICE.  That they were not afraid of HIM is born out by the fact that they had held a sex orgy a few days after arriving at the mountain, prompting Him to kill some 3000 of them.  In spite of all that He had done, THE ISRAELITES WERE AFRAID OF HIS VOICE, BUT WERE NOT AFRAID OF HIM.  His words, they believed, would kill them.  And they were right.  As is the case with all of mankind, they would be judged by their obedience to His WORDS (Jn. 12:44-50/ Lk. 10:16).

God and His Words are one in the same.  God is what His Words proclaim Him to be.  Scripture tells us that He has bound Himself to His Words.  HE MUST PERFORM FOR MAN IN THIS LIFE THAT WHICH HE HAS PROCLAIMED IN HIS HOLY BIBLE.  Otherwise, He would be a liar.  He is God; He cannot lie.  What He promises He must perform.  Jesus came to confirm the promises God made to the Israelite fathers–Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Rom. 15:8).  But there is a caveat (condition) attached to the promises.  God must do what He promises to do, BUT ONLY IF MAN OBEYS HIS WORDS: “FOR ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD IN HIM (CHRIST) ARE ‘YEA’ (YES) AND IN HIM ‘AMEN’ (SO BE IT)” (2 Cor. 1:20).  Notice that God’s Words are guaranteed to come to pass, BUT ONLY IF ONE IS “IN HIM (CHRIST).”  WE ARE “IN HIM” ONLY IF WE ARE WALKING IN HOLINESS BY OBEYING HIS WORDS.  The Apostle Paul makes this abundantly clear in Romans 5:21 and 6:22 where he states that eternal life is the END RESULT of a life lived in RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS.  Jesus said in Matthew 10:22 that only those who endure (in righteousness and holiness) until the end of their lives will be saved (upon His return).  Read Hope and Salvation.  Key word–Hope.  See the segment titled NOTICE on the introduction page of this website for instructions on downloading a series.  A list of series titles is available for the asking.  To receive a list email me at lpj4142@gmail.com

The biological and spiritual descendants of ancient Israel, who comprise the majority of people within the United States and Great Britain today, continue in their ancestors’ spiritual footsteps.  Read Who and Where is Israel Today?  Key word–Who.  They refuse to study God’s Words for fear of learning His Truth, which Jesus equated with His Word (Jn. 17:17).  As did their ancestors at Mt. Sinai, they fear His Words but do not fear Him.  Because they are supposedly “saved,” they claim they can ignore and dismiss His words–the definition of sin (1 Jn. 3:4)–and remain in good standing with Him.  Satan has deceived them just as he did Adam and Eve, the world in Noah’s day and the Israelites of old.

As King David said: “The sins of the wicked (man) reveals that there is no fear of God before his eyes” (Ps. 36:1).  Fear of God is proven by one’s obedience to Him–His Word/Law/Gospel/Light.  Let us prove our fear of Him by following in the footsteps of His Son Jesus of Nazareth Who, when He prayed, “was heard BECAUSE HE FEARED” the One to whom He prayed–Almighty God.  Jesus is our perfect example.  He feared God, so we must also fear Him.  Those who fear Him also love Him and prove it by obeying Him (Jn. 14:15,23; 15:10/ Mat. 19:17).  In John 8:31 Jesus tells His disciples: “You are My disciples INDEED IF you obey My commandments.”  The reason 99% of all prayers not answered can be explained by one word: “IF”–the most hated, most rejected and most ignored word in the entire Bible.  L.J.
