“The Temple Of The Lord”–The Church’s False Hope (Pt.1)

As goes the church, so goes the nation. The church can be the glue that holds a nation together. The church can also be the poison that brings about its destruction. Whether the church has a positive or a negative effect on the society depends on her belief in and obedience to God’s Word. In Acts 7:38 the Lord speaks about “the church (ekklesia–congregation) in the wilderness,” referring to His Israelite people on their way to the Promised Land following their exit from Egypt. He uses the same word to identify the Body of Christ that was established on the Day of Pentecost 31 A.D. An honest study of the Holy Scriptures will reveal to the Truth-seeker that the two congregations are one in the same, consisting of the same people, same God and same Truth (gospel). The only difference between the two churches involves different times and different generations. God’s ancient church in the physical wilderness called the Sinai Desert and His modern church in the spiritual wilderness called Christianity was/is built on the same foundation–His Word. Now, as then, God’s true disciples comprise His true church. Now, as then, the vast majority of those who claim to be God’s  people are His in name only.

Anciently the Israelites had agreed to obey the Lord Who had spoken to them audibly from atop Mt. Sinai (Exo. 24:3). However, the majority of them would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land because of their unbelief. The majority of modern church people will suffer the same fate and for the same reason. We must remember that God rescued ALL Israelites from Egypt, that He gave His Law to ALL of them and promised ALL of them that they would be His people IF they believed and obeyed Him (Exo. 19:5,6). Though they all agreed to do so, only a few did so. In Matthew 7:13,14 that same God, who later came to earth as Jesus of Nazareth, prophesied that only a few in the New Testament Church would do so. Anciently, only two men from the recently freed Israelites would be allowed to enter Canaan and possess the land God promised ALL of the descendants of Abraham which, at the time of the exodus, numbered approximately three million. Today their descendants number in the hundreds of millions and comprise the majority of the populations of the United States, Britain and the other so-called Christian nations. The people called Jews today, numbering approximately 15 million, are also Israelites–descendants of Abraham.

The moral quality of the church determines the moral quality of the nations in which it is found. Approximately 70% of adult Americans claim to be Christian. Because she comprises the majority of the voting population, the church is responsible for electing public and church officials. In this way “Christian” voters determine the moral and political direction of church and state. Few church people understand the church-nation connection. Because “the church” (Catholicism/Protestantism) is corrupt, the nation is also corrupt. The decaying condition of both church and state has been caused by the people involved in both. Man has wrested from the Lord the decision-making power which He reserved for Himself. This power involved both the church and the society. Man, under the direction of Satan, now determines the direction of both the church and the nation. What the church has failed to learn from God’s Word is that His people do not vote in either the spiritual or the social realm. In Daniel 4:17 the Lord tells us that “the MOST HIGH rules over the kingdoms of men and gives (rulership over) them to whomever HE will and (HE) sets up (places in power) over them the worst of men.” God is far too wise to allow human beings to decide who should hold spiritual and political power. God gives churches and nations the leadership they deserve. Which explains why professing Christendom and the nations she occupies are spiritual and political abominations that are soon to feel the brunt of the Lord’s wrath. Globally, both church and state have sown the wind and will soon reap the whirlwind. The floods, droughts, fires, mudslides, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, wars diseases, famines, plagues, racial strife, religious and cultural invasions, etc., all of which are rapidly increasing, are merely harbingers of what is about to come upon the earth. Jesus prophesied that what is coming will be like nothing ever experienced by mankind, and that unless He intervened, not one soul would be left alive (Mat. 24:21,22). L.J.
