The Sealing Of God’s Elect: Permanent Or Conditional? (Pt. 1)

March 9, 2022 by Larry Jaques Leave a Comment

At times over the years I have been “corrected” relative to the Lord’s “sealing” of converts with His Holy Spirit.   The passages that promise this spiritual sealing constitute the “headlines” relative to the act.  These “headlines” are firm and non-varying–GOD SEALS HIS PEOPLE WITH HIS HOLY SPIRIT WITHOUT FAIL.  However, as is always the case with God’s promises, there are caveats (those pesky, hated and ignored “IF’s) that constitute His “fine print” concerning the subject which He has commissioned me to proclaim “in season and out of season.”  He warned that a time would come when men would reject sound doctrine and would hire teachers who would teach them fables (2 Tim. 4:2-4).  That time is now.  Church people openly, continually and loudly reject God’s Word when it refutes their particular church doctrine.  Not surprisingly, the Lord’s caveats (conditions) are very unpopular within church circles because they separate sheep from goats, wheat from tares, God’s Very Elect from Satan’s counterfeit elect who claim to be God’s Very Elect.

The question that always arises relative to the sealing process involves whether a member of God’s Elect can, having been sealed by His Holy Spirit, then fail to receive the crown that was “laid up” for him in heaven at the time of his conversion.  In other words, can God’s seal be broken?  The people who come against me contend that once the believer has been sealed by the Holy Spirit, his seal cannot be broken.  In this series I will prove Scripturally and beyond a doubt that this so-called “Bible truth” is in fact a Satanic lie, a lie by which the father of lies has captured the hearts of billions of people over the past 2000 years.

One of the “Bible facts” that makes the lie so popular is the “once saved-always saved” theme found in the vast majority of churches.  It is true that once one is saved, one cannot be unsaved.  However, church people refuse to accept the Biblical fact that one is not saved (born again) in this life, that salvation will be awarded upon the arrival of Jesus Christ at His Second Advent.  Read Hope and Salvation.  Key word–Hope.  As this series will prove beyond a Biblical doubt, as long as a man is alive he can lose the crown God has laid up for him in heaven.  I will begin this series by offering Biblical proof that, upon true conversion the convert is sealed by the Holy Spirit and a crown (salvation) is set aside for him.  I will also prove that the convert’s seal can be broken and his crown can be taken from him at any time prior to death.  As I prove in the series titled The Message of the Cross (key word–Message), Jesus did not die so that believers could sin and get away with it.  Rather, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower the convert to overcome Satan’s temptations to sin (Rev. 3:21).

Needless to say, my teaching is summarily and angrily rejected by modern religionists.  I am not accepted within church circles because I proclaim God’s unedited, unspun, uninterpreted Word which he calls His “light.”  As He said, men love darkness rather than light because His light exposes their darkness (Jn. 3:19).  Read the Introduction to this website for examples of church darkness being presented as God’s light.  Jesus called their darkness “great”–powerful (Mat. 6:23).  Super-religious people (sinners saved by grace) claim to be “in Christ” while living in darkness.  However, “in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 Jn. 1:5).  Bible fact: one cannot sin AND be in Christ.  Church fact: one can sin BECAUSE one is in Christ.

Jesus–“the Word” (Jn. 1:1-4,14)–was God’s Word manifested in human form.  He proved this by saying about Himself: “He who has seen me has seen the Father” (Jn. 14:9).  He was the human extension of the Father.  He testified that He did not even speak His own words, but that everything He said to men His Father had said to Him (Jn. 12:48-50; 14:10).  People hated Him for speaking the Father’s Truth.  He stated that when men rejected His Words they proved that they despised both Him and His Father (Lk. 10:16).  Read Jesus of Nazareth: God, Man or God-man?  Key word–God-man.

When church people come against me for quoting God I take comfort in the fact that I am in good company today.  Jesus was despised by religionists of His day, and for the same reason–proclaiming God’s Words.  The same is true of His original apostles, all of whom except John were martyred, as was Jesus Himself.  Knowing that what I write would be summarily rejected by the whole of professing Christendom if they read it, I will nevertheless stand up and speak up for my heavenly Father and His Son under the power of Their Holy Spirit.  Those having hearts to embrace God’s Word in the face of church-wide rejection will continue to read me.  The others will go back to church.  As Solomon said, “There is nothing new under the sun.”  Rejection of God’s Word began in the Garden of Eden with God’s first church and continues to this day in man’s religious organizations which he calls “the church.”  In calling his organizations “the church,” man blasphemes the Head of the true church–Jesus Christ.  The vast majority of professing Christians are blasphemers.  Jesus prophesied that this would be the case, noting that FEW would FIND His strait (church) gate and walk His narrow (Law-obeying) path while many would enter Satan’s wide (church) gate and walk his broad (Lawless) path (Mat. 7:13,14).

The following are the primary questions that will be answered in this series: 1) are believers sealed with the Holy Spirit of God at conception?  2) if so can the seal be broken?  3) if so, by whom? 4) Does God lay up a crown (salvation) at the time of the sealing? and 5) does God’s seal remain on church people who refuse to obey His Word?  As we delve into this very important subject I trust that you will diligently study the references provided.  Regardless of the question, the Lord’s Word is the only legitimate source of spiritual Truth.  Jesus proved this when He said to His Father: “Thy Word is Truth” (Jn. 17:17).

Church doctrine is not Biblical Truth.  It is man’s self-serving, wide gate, broad path version of what God has written and preserved for Truth-hungry saints.  Jesus said that Truth-craving people would know His Truth and be free from man’s “truths” upon which the hundreds of so-called “churches” are founded.  There is only one Truth and it is printed within the covers of the Holy Bible.  Jesus tells us that we will be judged by every Word found within that sacred tome.  God’s Words become Truths to the Truth seeker when His Holy Spirit speaks them to the seeker from within him (Jn. 14:15-17).  It was through the Holy Spirit that Jesus heard the “voice” of the Father telling Him what to do and say.  As did the man Jesus, the true saint has the Holy Spirit within him and, like Jesus, can “hear” the “voice” of God through the Spirit.  Read The Trinity.  Key word–Trinity.  L.J.
