Let us be Scripturally clear, in the eyes of the Lord, sin is sin. To Him it matters not whether one’s sin takes the form of bed-hopping as practiced by Elvis Presley and his fellow sex addicts, or Sabbath-desecrating as practiced by two billion+ church attenders–SIN IS SIN; AND THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH. It matters not how long the sin has been accepted by the church or how many billions of parishioners have been guilty of it–SIN IS STILL SIN, THE WAGES OF WHICH IS STILL DEATH (Rom. 6:23). Notice that the Lord did not exempt one single sin from that Law. Notice also what Jesus said to the rich man who asked Him how to receive eternal life (Mk. 10:17-23). He told the man that “ONE THING” (SIN) would keep him from living in paradise forever. Note it: BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO GIVE IT UP, ONE SIN SEPARATED HIM FROM ETERNAL LIFE. To his credit, the man believed Him and went away sad. His modern counterparts do not believe Jesus and go away glad.
Elvis Presley was guilty of more than one sin, any one of which condemned him. Being ultimately religious, he stayed true to Catholic/Protestant doctrine by rejecting God’s Sabbath, rejecting His Law, observing Christmas and Easter, using Adam’s sin to excuse his personal sins, believing in the rapture, observing Satan’s holidays instead of God’s Holy Days, believing that salvation is acquired in this life, believing that one enters either heaven or hell at death, wearing graven (hand made) images, being involved in a denomination, etc., each of which is condemned by God in His Word.
Elvis Presley was the Christian’s Christian–a true role model for the Institutional Church. Throughout his life Elvis Presley believed and practiced the tenants, beliefs, doctrines, traditions and customs of professing Christendom–he adhered to the church’s foundational principles in both letter and spirit. And in accordance with church policy he masked his sins with an outward show of religiosity–church-going, cross-wearing, Scripture-quoting, witnessing, prayer, smiling, Bible-study, etc. For this reason the church world, having declared him saved and born again, had him immediately heaven-bound upon hearing of his demise.
Throughout the nation and the world we still find numerous Elvis impersonators doing what they do. These men are recognized by their long hair, gaudy outfits, voice inflections and bodily contortions. But they are not alone. According to church statistics, there are over two billion other Elvis impersonators of both sexes walking the earth today. Though they do not dress and style their hair as he did, these religious souls practice the same Babylonian heathenism as did the King of Rock and Roll. And like him, each one “knows” that he/she is saved, born again, and rapture-ready. The problem is that GOD DOES NOT KNOW IT. In fact, according to His Word, HE KNOWS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. But do not take my word for it, read it for yourself. L.J.
