The Price–The Product (Pt. 2)

When deciding if the product (professing Christianity–“the church”) is worth the price (crucifixion) Jesus of Nazareth paid for it, we must not ignore the price He paid before dying on Mt. Calvary. We need to remind ourselves of what He gave up to come to earth where He would even be rejected and disowned by His own family. The Apostle John reminds us that, before coming to earth as a mortal human, Jesus was “the Word” (Jn. 1:1-4,14) (Gr. the Logos–God’s Spokesman) by Whom God made the universe and by Whom God spoke to the human world. In Philippians 2:6 we are told that the Word and God were equal in every way. Think about that for a moment. The Word was co-equal ruler of all that existed. The Word deliberately chose to go from penthouse to outhouse, from holyville to sinville, from where He lived in the presence of His fellow God Who loved Him to a world where the god of the world ruled and would do everything in his power to destroy Him. Who among us would make such a choice?

Knowing what awaited Him, the Word left the splendor of heaven and came to this earth for the sole purpose of dying a horrific death to make it possible for mortal man to live with Him in paradise forever. If that isn’t love, then I do not know what love is. And yet we have all failed to appreciate His great sacrifice and have, like Adam, answered Satan’s siren call to sin. As Jesus predicted, only a minutely few have left Satan’s darkness and gone into God’s glorious light. The many, as Jesus said, have failed to do that (Mat. 7:13,14; 22:14). The question asked in this series is: WAS THE PRODUCT THAT JESUS PAID FOR WORTH THE PRICE HE PAID? We will let Him answer the question in His Holy Bible.

Bible history reveals that He and those He chose to assist Him in spreading His salvation message were not always appreciated by those to whom they spoke. In most cases their message was rejected. He and they were killed for speaking it. Only John was spared from martyrdom so that He could codify the writings of the prophets and apostles into what became known as the Holy Bible. Since that time Satan-serving man has killed millions of the Lord’s disciples simply because they believed and obeyed His Word. Over 50 million innocent souls were martyred during the Catholic Inquisition alone. Many were burned alive, buried alive, beheaded, starved …. Read Simon of Samaria: The Legacy. Key word–Legacy. Note especially the section about the Inquisition.

Jesus and His apostles brought love, compassion and hope to people throughout the world. Yet they were all killed in a variety of ways. They brought the Good Word of God about the future Kingdom of God, fed the hungry, healed the sick, raised the dead …. And their reward was to be killed by the very people to whom they brought God’s Word.

Jesus had a few choice words to say relative to how He and His apostles were treated by those they came to help. Ironically, the people gladly accepted what they did, but rejected what they said. Jesus and His men were killed because of their message. Jesus addressed this phenomenon on several occasions. Let us hear what He said. In Matthew 15:8,9 He said: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. In vain do they worship Me, teaching their commandments instead of My doctrines.” In Luke 6:6 He asks those who claimed to receive Him: “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not what I tell you.” Those Words are being spoken throughout professing Christendom today. Sadly, few are listening.

If Jesus lived today He would say the same things to and about those billions of people who own Bibles, quote Scriptures, wear crosses and smiles, preach sermons, go to church, pray, tithe, etc., BUT REFUSE TO BELIEVE AND OBEY HIS WORDS WHICH DO NOT CONFIRM THEIR BELIEFS. The home page of this website lists a few religious “truths” that are embraced whole-heartedly by professing Christendom. The irony is that many of those “truths” were borrowed from Babylonian mystery religions. Every one of them is diametrically opposite of what God says in His Holy Scriptures. Read Bible Truth Versus Church Doctrine 3.0. Key word–3.0. That series takes the reader deep into the major differences between what God tells us in His Word and what the church teaches in her doctrines. Though all of the various “churches” disagree on a number of things, the beliefs and customs discussed in the 3.0 series are “truths” they all agree on. I highly recommend that you read that series as soon as possible.

The question asked by this series is answered many times in God’s Holy Bible. Is the product that calls itself “the church” worth the price Jesus paid for her. Sadly, the answer is NO. Which is why none within her will rise to meet Him upon His return. L.J.
