The New Covenant: Its Two-part Controversy (Pt. 1)

There is a centuries-old war taking place within professing Christendom that few church people recognize as a conflict because the religious masses have been deceived into believing that the church doctrines that have been handed down from generation to generation for almost 1900 years are of God. Just as the serpent of Eden deceived both members of God’s first church, he has captured the hearts (minds) of most salvation seekers since the birth of the New Covenant Church on the Day of Pentecost, 31 A.D. The war under consideration is between the church world and those minutely few true believers who cling to the Word of God. The war being quietly waged is between Bible Truth and the minutely few men who proclaim it, and Church “truths” and the hundreds of men, women–and anyone’s guess–who proclaim it. Because the minority’s view is considered more of a joke than a legitimate subject, the war in question is rarely, if ever mentioned. However, If the Bible is to be believed, the war in question is deadly relative to its final outcome and therefore needs to be discussed throughout the church world. I am doing my best to make that happen. And it will, and soon when the Lord will make His Truth known to the world like never before. Read Killing the Messenger and Killing the Messenger 2.0. Key word–Killing.

The spiritual war this series refers to is being fought over two questions: 1) WHAT SUBJECTS DOES THE NEW COVENANT COVER AND 2) WHEN DID (OR WILL) THE NEW COVENANT TAKE EFFECT?

Part one involves the LAW which 99% of the church’s population “knows” was “nailed to the cross” of Jesus Christ and therefore has no part in the life of the modern-day believer. Why? Because “God has changed.” I watched (on t.v.) a protestant priest say those words when asked why his beliefs and lifestyle contradicted plain statements found in the Bible. Because, the queer priest declared, “GOD HAS CHANGED.” Case closed. If that priest is right, then what I was told by another religionist must be true. He said: “This one thing I know–the Bible can be interpreted to mean whatever we want it to mean.” In other words, if we believe and want something to be true, then it is true. Period. End of conversation. Read Transchristians. Key word–Trans. Because I have written about the Law many times on this website, I will discuss it only when it is featured in Biblical passages used in this series.

In Hebrews 8:6-10 we find the Apostle Paul referring to a statement made by the Lord as recorded in the Book of Jeremiah (31:31-33) relative to the Messiah and His coming to earth with a new and improved covenant to offer to true beliers (spiritual Israelites–God’s end-time church–“the Israel of God”–Gal. 6:16). Read Who and Where is Israel Today? Key word–Today. In his letter to the Hebrew (Israelite) converts, Paul is explaining why a new covenant between God and man had become necessary. He noted that the ancient Israelites refused to obey God’s Law (Covenant). Therefore, He decreed that a new and improved covenant was needed, one based on better promises mediated by One (Christ) Who would have a better ministry and would offer better promises (vs 6).

This brings us to the root of the church’s first problem concerning the demise of the Old Covenant and the creation of a New Covenant. The problem revolves around three words: “FAULTLESS,” “THEM” AND “THEY.” This is THE PASSAGE the church uses to “PROVE” that the Lord’s Ten Commandment Law is not part of the modern-day Christian’s life. For this “fine print” effort we will turn to Hebrews 8:7 where Paul explains why a New Covenant was needed: “For if that first covenant had been FAULTLESS (without error), then there would have been no need for a second” (covenant). It is at this point that the vast majority of church people STOP READING. In their minds there is no need for further study. Enough said. Cace closed. The proof is undeniable. Well, not quite.

As I always tell people: KEEP READING. FOLLOW GOD’S STUDY INSTRUCTIONS FOUND IN ISAIAH 28:9-13. Let us do exactly that by involving ourselves in a short “fine print” study. In verse eight Paul writes: “FOR FINDING FAULT WITH THEM …” NOTE IT: THE FAULT WITH THE OLD COVENANT WAS NOT WITH THE LAW UPON WHICH THE COVENANT WAS BASED, BUT WITH “THEM.” Who was “THEM?” or “THEY” in vs 9. “THEM” AND “THEY” were the Israelites whom God had brought out of Egyptian slavery and with whom He had made a covenant featuring His Ten Commandments from atop Mt. Sinai several days later. So, what was God’s solution to the FAULT of the Old Commandment? His solution to the problem was NOT TO DO AWAY WITH THE TEN COMMANDMENT LAW–THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH THE COVENANT RESTED. HIS SOLUTION WAS TO PLACE THE LAW IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION.

In Jeremiah 31:31-33 God tells future salvation seekers He would heal the FAULT of the Old Covenant by writing it somewhere other than on stone plates. He said: “I WILL PUT MY (TEN COMMANDMENT) LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS AND WRITE IT ON THEIR HEARTS AND (THEN) I WILL BE THEIR GOD AND THEY WILL BE MY PEOPLE.” Note it: ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE GOD’S LAW WRITTEN IN THEIR HEARTS (AND OBEY IT) ARE HIS PEOPLE. So what does this say about Law haters who refuse to obey His Sabbath Commandment? It says that THEY ARE NOT GOD’S PEOPLE. They are Satan’s people whom he has deceived into believing that they are saved, born again and rapture-ready. These are the “many” Jesus prophesied about in Matthew 7:13,14 and 22:14.

In the following segment we will do a “fine print” study relative to the TIMING QUESTION–WHEN DID OR WILL THE NEW COVENANT BECOME PART OF THE TRUE SAINT’S LIFE. It is imperative that the salvation seeker knows the answer to both questions. I have Biblically proved the answer to question number 1 many times–WE MUST OBEY THE TEN COMMANDMENT LAW IN ORDER TO BE SAVED UPON THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST. In part 2 I will, using the Word of God, prove that the church is wrong about THE TIMING OF THE NEW COVENANT’S INVOLVEMENT IN AND RULERSHIP OVER THE LIFE OF THE TRUE BELIEVER. The Truth about the timing question is of utmost importance.
