Relative to the question asked in the heading, ask one million professing Christians and not one will provide the Biblical answer. Why? Because it would destroy the trinity “truth.” I grew up during the glory days of the most famous evangelist of all time whose name was a household word recognized around the world. I once read a quote from him in which he stated that the “trinity” was the one Christian concept he could neither understand nor explain. He went to his grave never having solved that “mystery.” Anything this man said was “written in stone” according to his followers, who numbered in the millions globally. Is it any wonder they don’t accept God’s definition of the Holy Spirit?
The only characterization I have personally heard concerning what the Holy Spirit is involved a chicken, or rather what a chicken produces. The theory stated that the trinity is like an egg which has three parts: God is the yoke; Jesus is the white and the Holy Spirit is the shell. Another possibility had God and the shell exchanging identities. According to trinitarians, “You shall know the Truth ….” obviously does not involve the identity of the trinity. They know that they don’t know, but also know that God doesn’t know.
Ninety-nine percent of professing Christians are died-in-the-wool, don’t-bother-me-with-Bible-Truth trinitarians who refuse to accept God’s Word relative to the identity of the Holy Spirit. Why do praying, witnessing, church-going, cross-wearing, Bible-toting, Scripture quoting professing, pastoring, evangelizing, missionarying religionists refuse to accept God’s identification of supposedly 1/3 of the Godhead? Two reasons: 1) God’s Word destroys the trinity theory and 2) “That’s not what I have always been told, or the alternative: “… what my denomination teaches.” This means that God is lying, even though He declares that He cannot lie. Having caught their god in a double lie does not prevent trinitarians from “knowing” that He has “saved” them. Only Satan could conjure up such a mental morass and convince billions of salvation seekers to believe it.
The Almighty plainly tells us that the Holy Spirit is His power. This is made abundantly clear in Luke 1:26-38 where we find a girl named Mary being told by the angel Gabriel that she is going to have a child. Having never been with a man, she wanted to know how this was possible. Gabriel answered: “The HOLY SPIRIT will come upon you, and the POWER OF THE HIGHEST (GOD) will overshadow (come upon) you. Therefore that holy thing which will be born of you will be called THE SON OF GOD.”
Some people can be confused by the use of the word “and” which makes it appear that Gabriel made two different statements about two different things. The use of the word “and” in ways somewhat confusing to the rest of the world was a common in the Middle East during Bible times. Such a use of “and” seems strange to those in the Western world who do not recognize the custom. To a Westerner what Gabriel said to Mary would be like my telling someone: “Jane went to town yesterday, and my daughter bought some groceries.” I would be referring to the same person and the same activity.
Another Biblical statement which proves exactly what the Holy Spirit is was made by Jesus: “… you (disciples) will receive POWER when the HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU.” Refer back to Gabriel’s identical words to Mary relative to the Holy Spirit’s “power” which would “come upon” her. The Truth is that THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE POWER OF GOD–NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS. Only in professing Christendom is the Holy Spirit called a God or described as being part of the Godhead. In this series we will prove Scripturally that there is no such thing as a “trinity” composed of three Gods. So where did the idea of a triune godhead originate and how did it make its way into the professing church where it has become a foundational “truth” upon which she is built?
During the time of the Roman Empire’s rule over much of mankind the Catholic Church came to have a great deal of influence over those in positions of power. For a full history of this situation read Simon of Samaria: The Legacy. Key word: Legacy. As stated several times on this website, this church-state consortium is depicted in Revelation 17:1-5 as a governmental Beast being ridden (influenced) by a church (woman) that has shed the blood of God’s saints. As John reveals in the Book of the Apocalypse (“revealing”), this all-powerful government-church entity will usher in the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord–a 3 1/2 year reign of terror, destruction and death such as the world has never seen. The Apocalypse is the prophetic foretelling of what will happen during that horrific time just before Christ returns to earth.
A thumbnail sketch of how the heathen belief in a triple godhead became a church “truth” is as follows: During its power height the Roman Empire defeated and captured numerous societies within Western Europe. Each had its own religion, god, doctrines, etc. Catholic leaders used the Empire to force all of those heathen people into the church. To keep them from rebelling they allowed the heathen to bring their gods and religious practices with them. The hierarchy simply incorporated them into the church’s catechisms. One of those societies worshiped a three headed god. In order to placate those people the church adopted a three-person–trinitarian– godhead. The original trinity consisted of Joseph, Mary and Jesus. Later, it was changed to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
This church’s religion adoption strategy produced such “truths” the celebration of Christmas, Easter, Valentines’ Day, Halloween and New Years. Many of the heathen beliefs and practices found in the Introduction to this website came to be “thus says the Lord” by the church’s adoption process. By keeping her parishioners ignorant of God’s Word those in the church hierarchy were able to deceive them into believing whatever they (the leaders) wanted them to believe. Nothing has changed. When the so-called “Protestant Revolution” took place the “protesters” took most of the church’s heathen “truths” with them. As stated earlier, they were not protesting Catholic beliefs and customs, but rather some of the priest’s personal practices, such as the selling of indulgencies. As a result, Protestantism is nothing more than Catholicism with a few twists. The only real differences are in form, not substance. Satan still owns and operates both heads of the snake known as “Christianity.” My assignment from the Lord is to expose both heads for what they are: Satan’s counterfeit church system. L.J.
