“Are we living in the last days?” is a question that is gaining in popularity as we watch the world in general and the United States in particular decay from within. Even the unreligious are wondering what is going on when the truth accidentally slips out into the public domain. The answer to the question is “yes,” we are living in the final days of this age–the age just prior to the return of Jesus Christ to undo the damage unregenerate man has done over the past 6000 years.
To understand where we are on God’s chronological chart we need to return momentarily to the Day of Pentecost 31 A.D. as recorded in Acts 2. Here we find the city of Jerusalem, swollen with the masses of Jews who have returned to celebrate Passover and, 50 days later, Pentecost. The Day of Pentecost has arrived and the city is in a state of confusion as people from “every nation under the sun” are hearing a group of Jews speaking in the visitors’ own languages and proclaiming “the wonderful works of God” (2:11). What is going on? they want to know.
Upon hearing their question, the Apostle Peter stepped forward with the answer: “This is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel, ‘In the last days,’ says God, ‘I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh ….” Peter was saying that what the visitors were hearing (the effect of the arrival of the Holy Spirit) marked the beginning of the final days of the world. Since that day in 31 A.D. man has been living in “the last days.”
Now let us go back a couple of months to an episode recorded in Matthew 24. Here we find Jesus and His disciples coming out of the Temple in Jerusalem. The disciples were talking about the beauty of the buildings associated with the Temple. Then Jesus makes a statement that must have stopped them in their tracks: “Do you see all these things? I am telling you that there will come a day when there will not be left standing here one stone upon another. Every building will be flattened.” One can only imagine what was going on in the minds of the disciples as they walked toward the Mount of Olives. No doubt they talked among themselves about what Jesus had said.
Upon arriving at the mount Jesus sat down and the disciples came to Him and asked Him the question that they had been talking about. Jesus had earlier told them about His coming death, His resurrection and His return to earth that would mark the end of the “times of the Gentiles” and the beginning of eternity during which the kingdom of David would be reinstated as recorded in Acts 15:16: “After this I (Christ) will return and will build again the tabernacle of David which has been destroyed, and I will build again its ruins and I will set it up.” He was saying that the Kingdom of God would be like it was in the days of King David. The disciples then asked Him: “When will these things (the destruction of Jerusalem) take place and what will be THE SIGN of your coming and the end of the world?”
To answer these questions we need to return to an episode that took place as recorded in Matthew 22:36. Here we find a group of Pharisees and Sadducees that had come together to trap Jesus concerning the Law. One of them, a lawyer, spoke to Him, saying, “Master, which is the great(est) commandment in the Law?” Jesus answered: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all of the Law and the (writings of) the prophets.” The word “hang” was used because the Hebrews wrote beneath the line so that the letters appeared to be “hanging” from it. Here Jesus made perfectly clear that the Law (condensed into Ten Commandments) were summarized by the first two commandments which commanded one to love God and to love one’s neighbor. This sounds simple enough. Even a child can understand what Jesus said. Now let us return to the Mount of Olives where the disciples have asked Him for THE SIGN that would prepare His people for His return.
We find His answer recorded in Matthew 24:4,5. Again, this is THE SIGN to those true saints who would be living in the final days of the world: “Take heed that no man DECEIVE YOU. For MANY WILL COME IN MY NAME PROCLAIMING THAT I (JESUS) AM CHRIST, and will DECEIVE MANY.” He then went on to reveal several other signs that would follow THE SIGN. Let it be known that if the first sign had been recognized and dealt with, the following signs would not have taken place. The people would have recognized the false prophets for who they were and would have gotten rid of them. However, that did not happen, which explains why we are in the mess we are in today. As I have stated before, as goes the spiritual, so goes everything else. With the exception of a minutely few true believers who maintain THE faith throughout their lifetimes, the church failed mightily, thereby allowing Satan to corrupt not only the church itself, but also the societies in which they lived. Only God’s “little flock,” His “peculiar priests,” His “Very Elect,” His “saints” have believed and obeyed Him since the Day of Pentecost 31 A.D. Not only have they remained few in number, but also rejected by the counterfeit church.
As this website has repeatedly proclaimed and proven Scripturally, salvation seekers have rejected God’s Word and embraced Satan’s word on a wholesale level. The end result of falling for the deception Jesus warned them about is what is known today as “the church”–a two-headed, multi-bodied conglomerate officially known as Catholicism/Protestantism. Though claiming to be at odds with each other, these Truth-rejecting reprobate organizations have corrupted the entire world with their perverted gospels and heathenistic practices.
“THE SIGN” (religious deception) has caused religious man to reject the Biblical God and to embrace the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4). JESUS SAID THAT REJECTION OF HIS WORD PROVES THAT ONE DESPISES BOTH HIMSELF AND HIS FATHER (Lk. 10:16). To learn of a few of the many ways those in “the church” prove that they despise both Father and Son, read the Introduction to this website. Such a reading will also prove that the “sign” Jesus warned about in Matthew 24:4,5 has come to fruition. By “nailing the Law to the cross” man has shown that his love for God has grown cold (Mat. 24:12). “Man’s inhumanity toward man” proves that his love for his neighbor has also died. As he did in Eden, Satan has come to rule the hearts of the vast majority of men. Truly, mankind in general and the church in particular have been deceived by the master deceiver who, Jesus said, has “deceived the whole world” (Rev. 12:9) L.J.
