In that I have previously written extensively on the subject at hand (see the posting by the same name), I will end this series by briefly explaining the limited, exclusive responsibility of one truly called by God into His ministry. It is not to conduct the popular Social Gospel, nor is it to become involved in the Revolutionary Gospel, nor is it to put forth the heathen-based gospel that infects the church masses- each of which is embraced by those who refuse to believe and obey God. So, a true God-seeker asks, what does a God-ordained ministry look like? In Matthew 10:7,8 the Lord summarizes His commission to those whom He calls: “… as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand,’ heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received (power to do these things), freely give (do them).”
Notice that the commission He gives to all whom He calls to His ministry consists of two parts: preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God and performing miracles. The question always arises from churchites who do not believe God, “Why don’t you heal all the sick, raise all of the dead, deliver all demonic people, etc?” Because Jesus didn’t. I follow His example as we are all commanded to do. Notice that He did not heal every sick person He saw, nor did he raise all the dead people He saw. Notice that when He healed the man at the pool at Bethesda there were many more sick and infirm people lying near the water. He healed only one man BECAUSE HE OBEYED HIS FATHER IN ALL THINGS. He raised only a few people from the dead FOR THE SAME REASON. Obedience to the will of God as expressed through His Holy Spirit is the key. At times God gives strange orders. For example, I once sent a piece of paper that I had prayed over to the mother of a sick child with instructions to place the paper next to the child’s body. The child, who had been sick for several days, was healed in short order. People have been healed over the phone. I have cast demons out of people whom I did not know. But everything was done in Godly order and under God’s direction. I learned long ago to wait. I am routinely chastised by a member of my family because I do not act on behalf of other family members who are sick, etc. But I must wait on instructions from God.
In summary, God’s commission to those whom He has called to take up His mantel and finish His work is two-fold: preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God and perform miracles until He returns. L.J.
