The Decline And Fall Of Western Civilization (Pt. 3)

The decline and fall of man began with the first man–Adam. The rebellion against God that he began, a later generation used to affect self-destruction. Refusing to hear what Noah, a “preacher of righteousness” put forth, mankind grew so sinful that God had to kill every human being on earth except Noah and his family, which He used to repopulate the earth. However, man eventually had sin running rampant throughout the world’s population. This was when the Lord chose Abraham through whom He would raise up a family of people who would obey Him and serve as a model for the rest of the world. Through Abram–changed to Abraham, meaning “father of a multitude”–God created a people called “Israelites.” The word “Israel” means “power with God.” Through their actions, the Israelites were to prove that human beings could obey God rules of life, and that obedience to His Law, summarized in Ten Commandments, would bring forth blessings.

In Exodus 19:5,6 we find the God of the Old Testament (the Word who later came to earth as Jesus of Nazareth) presenting the children of Israel with a proposition. If they would obey His voice and keep His commandments, statutes and judgments He would give them material prosperity and power with which to dominate the rest of the world. He would place them “above all nations.”

However, as history has recorded, God’s chosen people went the way of their ancestors and, in the 700’s B.C. found themselves defeated, enslaved and later scattered throughout the world where, being among Gentiles (Heb.–goi–heathen) they took on the social and spiritual traits of the heathen and thereby became heathen. Eventually they began to identify as Gentiles as they do to this day. Read about this transfer from Israelite to Gentile using the key word–Today. Later, as God had promised Abraham, his descendants rose from spiritual and social obscurity and became the most dominant nations on earth. Those nations became Britain and America which came to be “above all nations” as God had promised Abraham. Today they continue to view themselves as Gentiles and have embraced many heathen ways, particularly in the spiritual realm. See the home page to this website for several examples of heathenism posing as Christianity with America leading the way.

Because of their rejection of God’s way and being determined to create their own way, both America and Britain find themselves in a state of moral decay that has them on the path to societal collapse. Biblical prophecy makes it clear that this is the inevitable outcome if those nations remain on their current course.

Biblical prophecy plainly reveals that God set spiritual and physical laws in motion by which man can, by obeying or disobeying those laws, determine for himself what his present and future will be like. God plainly said that He would allow man to chart his own course and to reap the rewards or consequences of the course he choses to take. Scripture also reveals that He expected latter day Israel to have learned from their ancestors the Truth of His Words. If not, end-time Israel (primarily Britain and America but also all “Christian nations”) would be punished seven times worse that ancient Israel was punished for her sins.

The Lord’s clear and precise warning is found in Leviticus 26–one of two “blessings and curses” chapters that apply to modern day Israel the same as it applied to her ancient ancestors. The other chapter is Deuteronomy 28. In the first 14 and 13 verses of those two chapters respectively God promises blessings FOR the obedience of the people relative to His Law. These verses are then followed by warnings of what He promises to do TO them if they do not obey His Law. They would be blessed or cursed, depending on their obedience or disobedience His Words. John 12:44-50 tells us that all of mankind will be judged by those Words.

In Leviticus 26:18,19 the Lord warns ancient Israel (and us), saying: “If you will not listen to Me, and will not obey all these commandments … I will set My face against you and you will be killed by your enemies. They that hate you will reign over you. You will flee when no one pursues you.” Note that the Creator and Blesser of the nations He created to be His lights to the world tells those same nations that He will send the heathen hoards against them (us) who would destroy them because of their rebellion against Him. There is even more warnings relative to His end-time Israelites whom He expects to learn from the history of their ancestors. He warns latter day Israel that if they rebel against Him He will punish her “seven times more” for her sins than He punished her ancestors. Looking at ancient Israel in the Old Testament we can see that the so-called Christian nations today are following the same course as her predecessors. Unless God has lied to us, we can expect the same cursings with which He punished them to be poured out on us, only seven times more.

The Prophet Isaiah wrote that ancient Israel became so corrupt that she was actually proud of her sins. He noted that: “They declare their sins as Sodom, they do not hide them” (3:9). Sadly, one can hardly find a more clear description of modern-day Israel than that. Another appropriate description of modern Israel is found in Hosea, a contemporary of Isaiah. He wrote that God had a quarrel with the Israelites because there was “no truth, no mercy and no knowledge of God in the land.” He wrote that Israel was filled with “swearing and lying, killing, stealing and adultery. Violence filled the nation so that “blood touches blood.” God was so angry with His chosen people that He decreed that the land would mourn and that all that dwelled in her would die (Hos. 4:1-3). He also wrote that because Israel (then and now) refused to “turn to their God” they would “fall in their iniquity” (Lawlessness) (5:1-5). Modern Israel has done away with God’s Law–His rules of living for those who would spend eternity with Him.

The prophesies of Isaiah, Hosea and other prophets focus primarily on “the latter days” (Hos. 3:5), meaning the time in which we now live. In spite of all of God’s “voices” (warnings), the end-time descendants of the ancient Israelites are rebelling against God’s commands, judgments and statutes, exactly as did their predecessors. Accordingly, America and Britain will suffer the same consequences as did their ancestors, only seven times worse. L.J.
