As goes the general character of the institutional church, so goes the general character of the nation. As goes a nation’s character, so goes her standing with God. As goes her spiritual standing, so goes her standing in the world. Since she came to international prominence during the early 1800’s, America has been the trend-setter for Western Civilization and many of the world’s other societies. Therefore, as goes America’s moral and character status, so goes Western Civilization. Therein lies the problem being witnessed each day on the world’s television screens and the front pages of the world’s newspapers and magazines. In spite of the fact that the Holy Bible is the most purchased and most stolen book ever printed, few of the world’s citizens seem to notice the positive correlation between mankind’s moral decay and the so-called “natural disasters” that are taking place at an accelerated pace in the form of storms, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, droughts, floods, famines, etc., which I call God’s “voices” by which He “speaks” to mankind. Few understand why crime, invasion, drug addiction, sexual perversion, lying, cheating, etc. are at an all-time high in so-called “Christian nations.” These supposed “high status” nations of are looking more and more like banana republics as the streets of their cities are crowded with drug addicts, prostitutes, muggers and societal free-loaders. God is addressing those issues using a variety of “voices.” While previously stable societies are succumbing to the call of anarchy, their so-called “authorities” are waiting for the problems to dissolve as they pass more criminal-friendly, anarchy-welcoming laws which only adds to the problem. Man’s solution to the rapidly-expanding problems: PASS MORE WOKE LAWS.

It is far past the time for the civilized world to wake up and ask itself: WHY DO NATIONS FALL? And they do fall. From the greatest to the least, every historical civilization has eventually collapsed. Again, why do nations form, become stable, rise to prominence, then, over time, begin to fail and eventually disappear, the Roman Empire being a prime example. Is it “just the way it is?” Do nations simply decide that they have been around long enough then go about dismantling themselves? OR DO SUCH NATIONAL DISASTERS HAVE A SPECIFIC CAUSE THAT INVOLVES A FORCE THAT COMES FROM OUTSIDE OF THE NATION ITSELF? AND DOES THAT FORCE HAVE A SPECIFIC REASON FOR DESTROYING THOSE NATIONS? AND IF SO, WHAT IS THE CAUSE BEHIND THE EFFECTS THAT ARE BROUGHT ON BY THE CAUSE? IS THE CAUSE OF NATIONAL FAILURE THE SAME IN EVERY CASE?

Could America, the greatest nation ever to exist on earth, fall and disappear as did the Roman Empire, the Greek Empire, the Soviet Union, as well as other, lesser-known nations? Could the most favored, God-blessed country in man’s history follow the path of so many others and end up being nothing more than a footnote in the annals of human history? Could such countries as Britain and the other so-called “Christian nations” follow in America’s national footsteps? Or are those nations, as they say, “Too big or too religious to fail?” Are they too powerful, too sophisticated, too enlightened, too churchy to collapse under their own moral weight? Man says yes, they are simply too important and too advanced to follow the historical trend. But what does God, the Creator of all things, say in His Holy Bible? Few know what He says. Even fewer want to know. And when those who claim to want to know are shown God’s Truth, they reject it. I have had this happen thousands of times over the years.

Because “God declares the end from the beginning” (Isa. 46:10), He knew that the ancestors of the modern professing church (“the Israel of God–Gal. 6:16), after reaching the greatest heights in every aspect of national life, would eventually fall into nothingness and disappear. He knew that the reason for that horrific phenomenon would not be the lack of effort on the part of the people, but would be due to their refusal to obey HIS LAW WHICH HE SUMMARIZED IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, WROTE IN STONE AND HID SO THAT IT COULD NOT BE CHANGED. Being unable to take hammer and chisel in hand and change God’s stone-etched Law, Law-haters show God who is actually in charge by doing away with His Law. In order to dispense with the shackles of the Law and become self-ruled, religious man nailed God’s eternal, perfect Law to the cross of the One Whom churchman believes has saved him. In so doing, he proves that he HATES AND DESPISES BOTH THE FATHER AND THE SON (Lk. 10:16/ Deut. 5:6-10). Note that in the Deuteronomy passage God is referring to commandments #1 and 2 and to such man-made symbols crosses, fish symbols, pictures, statues, carvings, etc. Read the series on symbols. That there will come a final reconning relative to man’s flaunting of God’s Law is proclaimed repeatedly in the Holy Scriptures. Most obvious are the many prophecies that speak about lawlessness and immorality and their consequences, many of which are directly aimed at the modern-day nations of America and those who emulate her to their peril–Britain being the most obvious. More on this subject later.

Sadly, few people, including church people, look to the Holy Bible for guidance in such matters as personal and national morality and their effect on both individuals and entire nations. Having relegated the Holy Bible to little more than a status symbol, Church people depend on man’s interpretation of God’s Word for their truths. The body of such “truths” is called “church doctrine” because it is each denomination’s version of God’s Truth. But no one has an excuse for not recognizing what is happening world-wide. Those who do not look to the Bible for guidance should be able to see what is taking place. Secular history records the effects of moral decline among the people and its effect on national success or failure. History’s waste basket is filled with the remains of the nations and empires that have failed. They all failed for the same reason–REJECTION OF GOD’S LAW.

A number of famous statesmen and philosophers have studied and debated the root causes of the fall of once-great empires. Before America officially came into being by the ratification of the United States Constitution, author Edward Gibbon wrote The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire which, before America’s rise, was the greatest empire ever to exist. In that famous tome Gibbon listed the primary reasons for that empire’s decline and disappearance from the world stage. First and second on the list were the breakdown of the family structure and the decay of religion, which does not surprise those who know their God and believe what is written in His Holy Book. L.J.
