Due to the latest “woe” (curse) the Lord is pouring out on sinning mankind the airways and printways are filled with Satan’s false prophets assuring their Catholic and Protestant parishioners that “God is with you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you.” So why is He not doing what He promised? Why are self-professed “Christians” being afflicted and dying like everyone else? Because God’s Words of protection were neither spoken to nor meant for Christians-in-name-only, not then and not now. As did many of her ancient brethren, the modern day church believes only those Words that “prove” they are right. The above quote is found in Hebrews 13:5 where the Apostle Paul is writing to his “holy brethren” (then and now) who were (are) “partakers of the heavenly calling.” God’s heavenly calling was (is) to a life of holiness which would (will) result in the awarding of salvation upon the return of Jesus Christ. Paul was not writing to those in the early (and modern) church who called (call) themselves Christians but who refuse to obey the Christ they claimed (claim) as their Savior. Paul was not alone in his use of the “sword of the Spirit”–His Word. In 1 Peter 4:17,18 the apostle noted that judgement was on-going in the church at that time, and that only the righteous in the church would be saved. Unlike Paul and Peter, today’s church leaders lie to their followers by telling them that, due to their faith in Jesus, all is well. However, in James 2:14,17,18,20,24,26 the Lord tells us that faith without works (obedience to His Word) is dead. We live by our faith (Rom. 1:17). The modern church is operating on dead faith. Dead faith produces a dead faither. James 1:22 warns that if one hears God’s Word and fails to obey it he is deceiving himself. Those whom Satan has lured into his Catholic/Protestant trap are spiritually dead and living in a state of self-deception.

Feel-good spiritual headlines are being spoken and written on an hourly basis. As are the testimonies of those who, having survived the viral attack, thank God for sparing them. Unfortunately they do not understand why they were attacked in the first place. Nor do they know Who attacked them. As I wrote in a previous series, religious people read and hear the Scriptural headlines while ignoring the fine print. However, God is in the fine print. Everyone is familiar with such “headline” passages as: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, you and all who are in your house” (Paul to the jailer in Acts 16:31). And “I am your God who heals you” (God to the Israelites in Exodus 15:26). Those were the headlines. In the fine print God warns that those promises come to pass ONLY IF WE OBEY HIS WORD. We do not know what happened to the jailer and his family. But we do know that the Israelites did not obey God, and as a result, spent 40 years wandering in the Sinai Desert while HE WAS KILLING THEM OFF. We also know that church people “know” they are children of God but receive His curses nonetheless. The fact that the one who praises God and the one who curses God have the same affliction and survival rate. They are treated with the same drugs and leave the hospital after the same number of days. How do they differ? In the eyes of God, they don’t.

A careful and Truth-seeking study of Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 reveals that it is GOD who has sent war, disease, floods, droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes, civil unrest, poverty, etc. on the United States beginning shortly after her founding. Those chapters also tell us why He sent the curses: SIN–disobedience toward His Word/Law/Truth. God has set in motion His “Cause and Effect (sowing and reaping) Law” which the two above-mentioned chapters explain in detail. In them He plainly states that if we obey Him He will bless us, and if we disobey Him He will curse us. HE WAS SPEAKING TO HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE. Because church people have never heard God’s Truth and refuse to learn it on their own, they can’t figure out why they are being cursed. Pogo explained it perfectly. Man is both the cause of his curse as well as its cure. God’s sowing and reaping law was set in the Garden of Eden and has never changed. What MAN sows, MAN reaps. As previously stated, a parachute operates according to how it is packed. Man packs his own chute. L.J.
