With this posting we will begin a study of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. The first 11 verses of the book deal with Jesus’ instructions to His apostles prior to His final ascention in to heaven where He joined the Father until time for Him to return to establish the Kingdom of God which will be headquartered in Jerusalem. See The Kingdom of God.
Chapter One
Verse one: Jesus taught His disciples and apostles then and now by both Words and deeds. His chosen ministers are to teach and do as He did and for the same purpose–to reveal the Kingdom of God and the Messiah as the One Who leads believers into it by obedience to His Word. He made certain promises to those who believe and obey Him. In John 14:12 He issued a general command/promise that those who believed and obeyed Him would do everything He had done while on earth and even greater things. He speaks more specifically on this issue in Matthew 10:7,8 where He told the apostles then and today to “… preach, saying, ‘the Kingdom of Heaven (the church) is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils, freely you have received, freely give.'”
Verse two and three: When Jesus ascended to heaven the first time immediately following three days and nights in the tomb, He waited a few days before returning to give His apostles their final face-to-face instructions. At this time He remained with them for 40 days during which time He taught them “the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.” Notice in verse two that those He had called to Him were those “whom He had chosen.” Not everyone who claims to be called of God to minister for Him and are called by Him. I believe that less than 1% of those ministering today are so called. I base my belief on a comparison of what they preach to God’s Holy Bible. Most of their doctrines and practices are taken directly from Babylonian Mystery religions. The Introduction to this website as well as many of the 700 plus messages I have posted graphically point out the discrepancies.
Notice in verse three that the first and most important message Jesus spoke and demonstrated to His apostles–sent ones–concerned “the Kingdom of God” and how to enter it (through obedience to Him). He had spoken about His final message days earlier when He said to the apostles that “This gospel (good news) of the kingdom” would be preached throughout all the world before He returned. Matthew 4:23 tells us that Jesus went about “preaching the Kingdom of God”–His earthly kingdom where Jesus and His true saints will reign forever and ever. It is my desire that all who read this website and watch my presentations on YouTube will rule and reign with Him in that future eternal kingdom. L.J.
