The Apostle Paul–The Ultimate Questioner (Pt. 3)

In both Exodus 20 and Leviticus 26 God had commanded the Israelites to obey His Law. Saul the Pharisee, not knowing His Law, had failed to obey it. By rejecting the Lord’s Word and persecuting those who believed it,  Saul had rejected and “persecuted”-the Lord Himself (Acts 9:4,5). As was proved in the series titled The God Of The Old Testament, the Lord Who spoke to Saul on the road to Damascus would later come to earth as Jesus of Nazareth. By imprisoning and killing Christians Saul was in fact revealing his attitude toward the Almighty Himself–the One Whom he would later call his Savior.

In 1 Corinthians 10:11 we are told that the Almighty’s dealings with ancient Israel were a harbinger of His dealings with modern Israel–specifically Britain and the United States. See Who and Where is Israel Today? Throughout the Scriptures Jesus warns Truth seekers that man’s attitude toward His Word, which God the Father gave to Him (Jn. 12:48-50), is ultimately important. We find Jesus stating this Truth in Luke 10:16 as He speaks to His disciples: “He who hears you (speak His Words) hears Me, and he who despises (rejects) your word, despises Me and Him Who sent Me.” The introduction to this website lists a number of Biblical Truths rejected by the whole of professing Christendom. By refusing to believe and obey “every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Mat. 4:4), practitioners of  Catholicism/Protestantism prove to the world that they despise both the Father and the Son. Ultimate irony is revealed when those same “Christians” claim that the Ones they despise have saved them. This gives new meaning to the expression: “Biting the hand that feeds you.” This paragraph contains life and death information. The Godhead’s message is clear: obey Their Word and live; disobey Their Word and die. Unfortunately, Satan’s Counterfeit Church does not believe His message.

The question we need to focus on now is why Saul of Tarsus did not know God’s Word despite the fact that he believed that he was serving that same God. The answer comes to light when we go back in time and return to Babylon where the Jews–tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Levi–are living following their defeat and enslavement. Having become disillusioned with the God of their forefathers, the Jews set about collecting the statements and writings of their spiritual leaders. The result was a tome they called the “Talmud.” As a result of their rejection of God’s Word and their embracing of the Talmud, the latter has become the source of record for Jewish truth among many Jews today, including those studying for the priesthood. It was the Talmud, which Saul referred to as “the traditions of the (Pharisaical) fathers,”  that Saul and those who studied under Gamaliel learned, preached and enforced (Acts 5:34;22:3). Because of this, Saul had little knowledge of the Holy Scriptures as the prophets, operating under the power of God’s Holy Spirit, had spoken and written them (2 Pet. 1:21). Therefore Saul, along with most other Jews, did not recognize the carpenter from Nazareth as the Messiah the prophets had written about in the Law–the name Israelites gave to the writings of the prophets. To the Jews, the Words Jesus was speaking were blasphemous. His Words, along with the miracles He was performing, were causing a great deal of turmoil among the people, including the ruling Romans. Most people who heard about Him viewed him as an imposter and a dangerous threat.

Jesus of Nazareth was placing the survival of the Jewish nation in jeopardy. Something had to be done. The only solution both the Jews and the Romans could agree on was to kill everyone who believed what He was saying. But what about the Law? copies of which could still be found in the Temple at Jerusalem  and in local synagogues. The consensus was that the Law, along with everyone who believed what the prophets had written about the Messiah, had to be eliminated. The zealots, whose numbers were increasing daily, had to be killed and the writings of the prophets destroyed. Every trace of the man Jesus had to be eliminated. And above all, His Words and deeds must not be recorded for future generations to read, hear and believe.

The modern church is following in the religious footsteps of their ancient ancestors. Having rejected the written Word of God, she has substituted her own version of the Talmud. The “new and improved” version of God’s Word is commonly referred to as “church doctrine,” a litany of “truths” that vary according to the cult in question. Again, the introduction to this website exposes many of those doctrines, each of which came from the world of heathenism. Satan directs the Institutional Church to not only hate the Words of the Lord, but also to hate those who speak them (Mat. 10:22/Rev. 2:25,26). Incredibly, after some 2,000 years of “spiritual enlightenment,” NOTHING HAS CHANGED. L.J.
