Spiritual Seed: The Seed Determines The Quality Of The Harvest

Having been born in a share croppers shack located in a cotton field, and having gone to work in cotton fields at the age of four, and having grown up preparing the ground, planting the seeds, plowing the fields and harvesting crops such as cotton, corn, hay, soy beans and water melons while helping my mother perform the same rituals relative to the family garden, I know a little bit about SEEDS and the process by which they produce their designed harvests.

Over the past couple of days I have been studying the Gospel of John (again). John is my favorite Biblical writer. I have said before that if I could have only one book of the Bible, it would be First John. If allowed only one chapter within the Bible it would be First John chapter three. In other words: I LOVE JOHN. Having completed a study of the Gospels and epistles of the New Testament apostles, the Lord has directed me to return to John’s Gospel. A couple of hours ago He showed me why. He wants me to write about seeds, specifically His seeds–His source of light for he world-=HIS HOLY WORDS. In this teaching we will study part of the fourth chapter of John’s Gospel in which the apostle brings up the subject of seeds without mentioning the word itself. John is good at that, as well as every other subject he sets his hand to proclaim.

Here we find Jesus speaking to His disciples about reaping a spiritual harvest. In 4:38 he reminds them that the harvest they were entering into had not come to fruition as the result of their labors. The fruit they and their ministerial descendants would gather would be the result of the efforts of previous generations of seed sowers whom the Apostle Peter described as: “HOLY MEN OF OLD WHO SPOKE AS THEY WERE MOVED UPON BY THE HOLY SPIRIT” (2 Pet. 1:21). What they spoke and wrote were the seeds that would produce the harvest the apostles were entering into. This is God’s way of telling us how important the work of the Old Testament prophets had been in His harvest of souls. Read White Fields. Key word–Fields.

According to the Apostle Paul, the Words of the Old Testament prophets are equal in importance to those of the apostles in that “the church is founded on the (writings of) the prophets and the apostles” (Eph. 2:20). Jesus made this abundantly clear in Matthew 5:17 where He stated that He had not come to destroy the Law or the writings of the prophets, but rather to manifest and teach them fully. The prophets had planted the seeds (Words) that would produce the harvest the apostles were entering into. We see this in Paul’s writing where he states that the ancient Israelites were taught the same Gospel that we teach today (1 Cor. 10:11). We are told that “the Scripture (Word/Jesus Christ) taught the Gospel to Abraham.” Lesson to learn: DO NOT ALLOW SATAN’S FALSE PROPHETS TO TELL YOU THAT THE OLD TESTAMENT HAS NO RELEVANCE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH. THE LAW WAS NOT “NAILED TO THE CROSS.” THE TEN COMMANDMENT LAW IS AS RELEVANT TODAY AS IT WAS WHEN IT WAS WRITTEN IN STONE BY THE ONE WHO CAME TO EARTH AS JESUS OF NAZARETH WHO LIVED IT, TAUGHT IT AND COMMAND US TO OBEY IT. Read John 1:1-4,14. Also read The God of the Old Testament and The Old Testament-Timeless? Key words– Old and Timeless.

Of utmost importance is the seed (Word) that is sown in the name of the Lord both anciently and at the end of the age–the times in which we are living. In 4:34 Jesus said that His job was to do God’s will by FINISHING HIS WORK. His assignment was to teach His apostles and their spiritual descendants God’s Truth (seed/Word–LAW) and to die so that man could 1) be forgiven for having broken it in the past 2) then live in obedience to it for the remainder of their lives by the power of the Holy Spirit that would reside within them. By living in righteousness and holiness following true conversion, believers would qualify for eternal life in paradise. Lesson to learn: FAITH ALONE CANNOT SAVE THE SOUL (Jam. 2:14) FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD FAITH (Jam. 2:17). “WORKS” CONSISTS OF BELIEVING AND OBEYING GOD’S WORD (SEED/TRUTH/ LIGHT/LAW (JN. 17:17). Read “I Never Knew You.” Key word–Never.

As stated, nothing is more important than the quality of the SEED that is sown in the name of the Lord. I do not listen to television, ratio and internet preachers. However, the Almighty excels at having me in the right place at the right moment to hear some of the Satanic swill that comes from today’s false prophets. The following statements came from the mouths of modern-day preachers: “Don’t even try to be righteous; you’ll just make yourself sick.” “To get to heaven you need to obey church doctrine.” “You’re saved; that’s already settled.” “God wants His people to be happy. So do what makes you happy.” “The world will not have peace until all people bow to Maria (Mary).” I read about a preacher who said that God has already forgiven church people before they sin. What a God these people worship. I know him intimately because I do battle with him daily. His name is Satan. What kind of fruit will the above statements and many others like them produce? To find out, watch the news.

Jesus noted the seed/Word/Truth/Law that had been planted anciently would produce a harvest in modern times. Since early on, the Biblical seeds (Truths) generated by previous harvests generated by previous generations were saved and used over and over, generation after generation. This produced the “remnant” of true believers which Jesus called his “little flock” and which the Apostle Peter described in First Peter 2:9. What works in the spiritual realm also works in the physical realm. In cotton country if a farmer has a particularly good crop he instructs the ginner to “save the seed” of that crop so that they could be planted the next year. This system produces some of the best cotton crops on earth, possible THE best. Truly, only good seed produces good harvests regardless of the fruit involved.

By reading the home page of this website one can find a few of the “BAD SEEDS” (false “truths”) that have been “planted” in the hearts of professing Christians over the years. Because church people have embraced so many of them, God has cursed the church along with the nations that have hosted the religious system known as “Christianity.” In Matthew 24:3-8 Jesus warned that God would punish those who believed and obeyed bad seed fed to them by Satan’s false prophets. As Jesus warned bad seed proponents, we have seen wars, disease epidemics, famines and all manner of so-called “natural disasters (earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, floods, droughts, etc.) come upon so-called “Christian nation” time after time. Note that church people are not spared when the disasters strike. Why? Because they are as guilty of sin as the non-church people, even though church people have “the Oracles (Words) of God” (Rom. 3:2) which inform them as to how to avoid God’s curses. God curses church people the same way and to the same extent as their non-church spiritual brethren. To both groups Jesus will say on Judgment Day: “I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO WORK INIQUITY” (LAWLESSNESS). Please spend some of your free time (preferably most of it) in the Word of God. Allow His righteous, holy seed to be planted in your heart where it can grow and produce a personal harvest of RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HOLINESS the END RESULT of which will be ETERNAL LIFE. Read Romans 5:21 and 6:22. L.J.
