Both secular and Biblical history reveal that the desire for evolution in all areas of life lies in the very heart of mankind.  God said that the thoughts of man’s heart are “only evil continually” (Gen. 6:5).  “Evil” (sin) is the word God uses to define man’s desire to live apart from His government.  God is government.  Government is not everything among God’s true saints, it is the ONLY thing.  Without the Lord’s governance over him, man is low hanging fruit for Satan, the ultimate fruit picker and fruit consumer.  Man’s insatiable desire for self-rule proves God right–man’s heart (mind) is “ONLY ON EVIL CONTINUALLY.”  The famous Episode in Eden proves that, when allowed to rule himself, man rushes to sin.  Man demands freedom from external control.  Religious man tolerates the rule of human government over him, even agrees with it in most cases for such rule enables him to live in relative peace with his fellow man in this life.  This “just makes sense” to those who claim to be God’s people.  After all, did He not tell us to obey the civil authorities, even to pray for them in order to have a peaceful 70-80 years of human life?  Christian man is a man of peace, a believer in the nation’s laws he himself designed to produce “peace on earth good will toward men.”

However, when it comes to obeying the Law that God wrote–His Holy Bible–the Law that guarantees the one who obeys it a life of unbelievable joy and happiness in magnificant, unimaginable splender with God Himself and His Son, Christian man refuses to believe that Law and rejects anyone who speaks or writes about it.  Christian man rejects God’s Law of Eternal Life.  As zealously as he embraces man-made social law that governs his present life, he rejects God’s Law for living throughout eternity.  In summary,  MAN ACCEPTS HIS OWN LAW BUT REJECTS GOD’S LAW.  Man demands spiritual evolution (read “revolution”) for it sets him free of external governance by God.  And as this series will show, he is even shaking off the shackles he himself has created to govern himself in this life.

Rebellion is in the air, and is gaining steam in the days in which we live.  Rebellion against the governance of both God and man will get much worse as this final age of mankind comes to a close.  Since the Garden of Eden, man has demanded spiritual self-determination.  And what man wants, man gets.  Man, specifically religious man, long ago threw off the shackles of spiritual control of his life as he grew farther and farther away from God’s strict control.  Generation after generation has seen him evolve spiritually from a God-directed to a self-directed entity.  But his influence does not only affect things of the spirit.  As I have stated numerous times, wherever the church goes, the nation is not far behind.  Let us now look at a few examples of how the American church’s quest for freedom from God has tainted the entire nation.  Religious man has gained his freedom, but at what cost?  This series will focus specifically on the United States of America–the nation God created for the purpose of taking His light (Word) to the nations of the world.  Ironically, she has failed to practice what she preaches.  This series will reveal the specific manner in which she has not only failed to lead others to the Lord, she herself has created her own demise.  The following are a few examples of how her spiritual failure has brought about social failure.  As is always the case, evolution is at the center of the problem.

In the political realm there are people who want to do away with the U.S. Constitution and replace it with an “evolving constitution” that can be adjusted to satisfy the society’s ever-changing ideas of what her legal system should reflect.  I recently saw on t.v. a street demonstration in which several people were holding up a large banner that read: WE WILL NOT BE GOVERNED.  That sign represents a harbinger of things to come as man demands and takes total control over his life.  The end result of such freedom is invariably anarchy and chaos.

There are those who want the rules that govern the social interaction of individuals to change so as to reflect man’s changing attitudes toward his fellow man.  The movement is already underway.  For example, the city of San Francisco has passed a law that prohibits the labeling of lawbreakers as “criminals.”  Rather, they are to be referred to as “disadvantaged persons.”  The police are prohibited from arresting a “disadvantaged person” for stealing less than $150.00 dollars worth of goods.

On the international level, approximately 50% of Americans do not want people entering the U.S. illegally to be labeled as “criminals.”  They are to be called “migrants” and “dreamers.”  Rather than punish these law-breakers, half of the population wants them to be rewarded for breaking our laws by awarding them the same rights and privileges as American citizens.  “Sanctuary cities” openly protect them, even to the point of hiding them from the law when they murder and rape American citizens.  There was a time when America had strictly-enforced quotas for immigrants wanting to enter this country.  But her demand for evolution changed everything.  News programs show the effects of the change.

The rules governing the sports world have also evolved over the years.  Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Landis banned eight players for life for deliberately losing the 1919 world series.  By contrast, the Houston Astros were caught illegally stealing their opponent’s signs which enabled them to win the 2019 world series.  They received no punishment.  In days of old work came before pay.  Today’s pro athletes sign guaranteed, multi-year contracts for millions of dollars before the games are played.

Within the entertainment industry behaviors that once placed entertainers on the society’s lowest status level are now applauded and glamorized.  I once saw a picture of a sign on the front of a hotel that read: NO DOGS OR ACTORS.  In today’s world entertainers occupy god status.  Their every move is recorded and shown on t.v. and in the tabloids as if they were important contributors to the nation’s well-being.  Their opinions are treated as if they knew what they are talking about.  I once watched a famous Hollywood whore say to the world’s most powerful deliberative body: “You WILL hear what I have to say.”  And no one threw her out of the chamber–unbelievable.  There was a time when men were men and women were women.  Social evolution changed that.  More and more males and females (whichever applies at the moment) are demanding that they be addressed, not in the male or female gender, but in the gender of their choosing.  The latest evolutionary dictate is that they be addressed in the neuter.  No more him and her, he and she.

What is determined to be acceptable behavior has evolved drastically over the decades and will continue to change with each generation.  History has shown that each generation of Americans demands ever more freedom from the control of external (governmental) forces.  This evolutionary force will continue to grow as  human beings demand more and more freedom.  Due to this reality, in order for mankind to survive he must understand that nothing happens by “happenchance,” that each effect has a cause.  What happens to us today is the result of what we did or did not do in the past.  The Almighty stated this in His Law of Sowing and Reaping: “Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap” (Gal. 6:7).  This law applies to both positive and negative outcomes on both the personal and national level.  Let us examine the Lord’s law relative to  man’s ever-changing value system.  Specifically, where did Americans’ demand for freedom originate?  We will see that other nations of the world are experiencing the same evolutionary demise, especially those nations that call themselves “Christian.”

From whence came the idea that mankind’s concept of right and wrong, good and bad, appropriate and inappropriate should be subject to change?  Where did politicians, social leaders, entertainers and the proverbial man on the street get the idea that all rules governing one’s personal behavior should be determined by one’s own personal wants, needs,  preferences, etc?  Where did man’s craving for self-governance and his rejection of external governance originate?  There is a movement forming now whose members are demanding total self-determination.  The growing numbers of people rebelling against governmental control over their lives reveals man’s demand for self-determination.  From what fount are these people drinking the elixir of rebellion?  This series will answer that question.
