America came on the global scene in a blaze of glory.  She would be God’s “light to the Gentile (heathen) nations as had her ancient ancestors–the House of Israel.  In short order she was the world’s premiere nation, leading the world in every category, including the spreading of God’s Word around the globe.  What Americal was designed to be, she quickly became.  Being the undisputed global leader at such an early age, and after winning two world wars, she did exactly what her ancestors had done.  America developed a pride problem and began looking inward for her leadership and power.  The God Who had established her and given her everything she had was no longer as important to her success as He had been.  As new generations came on the scene and success followed success, God became less and less relevant.  By the late 1900’s He had become the nation’s power and intellectual source in name only.  America had outgrown Him.

America’s fall from light to darkness began with her rejection of God’s Word as printed in the Holy Bible.  Having “pulled herself up by her own bootstraps,” the world’s newly crowned king knew more than the One who’s name was printed on her money, Whose Law was placed on the walls of her schools and chiseled in stone on her courthouse lawns.  America did not need His strict, non-negotiable rules of engagement.  America was all grown up.

Inside steeple-roofed buildings with crosses on the front lawn words began to be proclaimed that only vaguely resembled those written in the Books the people inside carried with them each time they met to honor the sun god on his day of worship.  Each year they celebrated his birthday by exchanging gifts and singing songs about reindeer and a jolly old man who rode in a sleigh.  A few months later they paid homage to his mother–the Goddess of Fertility–by coloring eggs and hiding them for children to find.  Because the nation followed the church’s lead, both leader and follower soon became totally secular.  As things of the flesh replaced things of the spirit in terms of importance, the nation came to resemble the Gentile nations that had surrounded ancient Israel that were so evil that God had forbidden any spiritual or social contact with them.

Fast forward to the present which makes America’s past look holy by comparison.  Beliefs and practices not even talked about a generation ago have gone mainstream.  What had been rejected by God is now celebrated inside those steepled buildings with crosses out front.  The God the people inside those buildings had once revered is now nothing more than a figurehead Whose name is dropped occasionally to make the speakers appear religious.  What the original God calls abominations in His Book are now exalted and celebrated by owners of the Book.  Which brings up the question: WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA?  Matthew 12:43-45 explains.  But first a short history lesson.

As had her Israelite ancestors, America had risen and fallen many times while sliding into the spiritual condition in which she now finds herself.  Religious man having assumed the nation’s decision-making role, right and wrong have became totally subjective.  Such designations are now determined by situations and desires.  As warned about in the Bible, man now does what is right in his own eyes–a spiritual recipe which has produced the ever-deepening abyss that is the United States of America.

As noted in part one of this series, spiritual “moves of the spirit” known as “revivals” have been sent over the years by God to get the attention of the people and to focus it on Himself.   Traditionally, people would feel the heat of His call for a few weeks during which time the masses would recognize their need for Him and come together to celebrate His presence in their midst.  But soon the fire would die out and everything would return to normal, meaning that He was placed back on the shelf and men would again take over the task of directing “the church.”

It was noticed by some people that, following each revival, the people would become more sinful than they had been prior to the Lord’s visitation.  Generation after generation the cycle continued.  Following a revival the people would then separate themselves farther from God’s written will than had the previous revivalists.  Today absolutely nothing relative to God’s Holy Scriptures takes place within the so-called church.  The reason is that He no longer plays a part in church beliefs and customs.

Over time the Biblical God was pushed ever farther away from the church.  With the church’s Creator pushed out of the picture, a void was created.  A god has filled it.  His name is Satan whom the Apostle Paul called “the god of this world” (2 Cor. 4:4).  Led by the worldly church, the nation once greatly blessed nation has blissfully followed in the footsteps of national Israel.

In Matthew 12:43-45 Jesus explains how this happened to both Israel and America.  When a nation (or an individual) has been cleansed (by way of a revival or deliverance), the devils (demons) are forced to leave their host by the power of the Lord.  This creates a spiritual vacuum that, if not filled by the Holy Spirit, will be filled by an unholy spirit.  The expelled demon, finding the national (or individual) void unfilled, they return along with seven other demons.  The end result is that the person or nation becomes seven times more wicked than they had been previously.

Today we are watching yet another attempt by the Lord to garner the attention of those who have pushed Him aside in their worship of self, which is in reality the worship of Satan, which is in reality IDOLATRY.  As did Adam and Eve, this generation believes that they can determine right and wrong better than can their Creator.  Within the religious community, the result is a hodge-podge of wishful thinking and Scripture-twisting “truths) that have produced known as “Christianity.”  And in that the nation follows the lead of the church, the duo now operate “hand in glove” with each other.  The glove (church and nation) that is owned and operated by the hand–Satan.  L.J.
