Subtitle: Why God will destroy the U.S. and the God-rejecting church system that leads it. As goes the church, so goes the nation. Soon all churches will be following the lead of those highlighted in this series.
The “It’s the thought that counts” heresy reminds me of a fitness movement that came on the scene a few years ago which touted the “fact” that one count get fit and stay fit simply by thinking about being fit. This theory, of course, was absurd, which caused it to fade from the public scene very quickly.
But not as absurd as the theological principle expressed by this popular preacher. Unfortunately, he is not alone. The airwaves are filled with such “believe and receive,” “all grace and no works,” “the Law was nailed to the cross” theories put forth as “Bible Truths” by those who are paid by ear-itching parishioners to tell them what they want to hear. Having been in a variety of churches and having heard and read the “truths” preached by others, I can assure you that within five years, probably sooner, all churches will be walking the Religious Correctness path out of fear of being labeled “unloving” and “haters.” I wear those titles as badges of honor.
Having seen and heard what I was supposed to see and hear, I switched to the other religious channel where I found another, even more popular preacher assuring people that if they would send him money and think good (faith) thoughts their troubles would disappear. The religious formula went something like this: If you need a little, think little faith thoughts and send him a little money. God would then provide a little money for the thinker/sender. However, if you need a lot, think large faith thoughts, send a lot of money and God will send you a lot more money. To no one’s surprise, he emphasized the need for lots of money. My mind leapt into believe and receive mode. Consideration: I could use a new car (mine is a ’99). If I sent him, say, $2000, would a new Cadillac be in my immediate future? I think not. However, judging by the real estate holdings he owns, and the wad of $100 bills he flashed for all to see, many do not agree with me. To be continued. L.J.
