The Second Epistle Of The Apostle Peter (Ch. 2)

Second Peter

In the previous verses the Apostle Peter revealed the source of God’s Truth (Jn. 17:17) that He has provided–the Holy Bible. God first spoke His Words of life to Adam and Eve who rejected them, as did their first son who killed their second son for believing and obeying those Words. Then He spoke to Noah, “a preacher of righteousness” (vs 5) whose words were rejected, causing the Lord to send a flood that killed every man, woman and child on earth except Noah and his family. Later the Almighty spoke to and through the holy prophets and again revealed His will and the way to fulfil it. His first unified congregation sprang from Abraham, a former heathen from Er of the Chaldees. His descendants became the House of Israel–the 12 tribes of Jacob whom He designed to be His “light to the Gentiles” (Isa. 42:6; 60:3) to show them the way to eternal life. Those who believe God’s Word know the rest of the story. Chapter 2 of Second Peter picks up with God, through Peter, telling the Israelites in the church how their ancestors rebelled against God and embraced Satan. As any honest believer will admit, nothing has changed.

Verses one through three: Peter reminds his readers that there had been false prophets and false teachers among the Israelites. He goes on to warn them that there were at that time (approx. 60 A.D.) and would always be false prophets and false teachers among God’s true saints. Through secrecy and cunning these servants of the devil continue to put forth “damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them” (Jesus Christ.) Those who keep up with this ministry on YouTube know that of late I have been teaching about the church’s false god–Tammuz the sun god–and how professing Christendom pays homage to him by worshiping him on his day–Sun god day (Sunday)–and how they observe his birthday (Dec. 25) by receiving presents he has supposedly left under a tree his followers have cut out of the forest, prop up in their houses and decorate with silver and gold. God speaks to this abomination in Jeremiah 10:1-4. By rejecting the Words of the Lord, Satan’s false witnesses deny the Sonship of Jesus Christ and His Lordship over their lives. We must remember that Jesus and the Word are one in the same (Jn. 1:1-41,14/ Rev. 19:13). JESUS OF NAZARETH WAS THE WORD OF GOD IN HUMAN FLESH. As sons of God, true saints are also His Word in human flesh because they believe and obey the Holy Scriptures. Disciples of Tammuz (Catholics and Protestants) reject His Law, which is God’s definition of sin (1 Jn. 3:4). By continuing to sin, “sinners saved by grace” cut themselves off from Him, causing Him to hide His face from them (Isa. 59:2).

In verse 2 Peter speaks about the followers of false prophets–those who teach and preach anything contrary to God’s Word. He says that they follow their own version of truth and cause God’s Truth to be “evil spoken of.” God’s gospel is rejected in favor of a “perverted gospel” (Gal. 1:6-9) which is preached and taught every Sunday throughout the world. True to Scriptural prophecy, this has caused the Counterfeit Church to accept “another Jesus” (2 Cor. 11:4) who is put forth by her ministers. Note that “MANY shall follow their pernicious ways.” This is in fulfilment of Jesus’ Words in Matthew 7:13,14 where He said “few” would believe Him, enter His strait gate and walk His narrow path to eternal life. In verse 3 Peter pronounces God’s judgment on the many who follow the church’s false prophets: “their damnation slumbereth not.” Translation: God does not forget. L.J.
