The Second Epistle Of The Apostle Peter (Ch. 1)

Second Peter

In the previous posting we found the Apostle Peter telling the Israelite Christians, along with the entire church, that they were to follow the teachings of the apostles, eleven of whom had spent several years with Jesus of Nazareth as he walked the land doing what His Father had sent Him (and them) to do–preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, heal the sick, cast out demons, etc.

Verses nineteen through twenty-one: Here the apostle warns the people that they must “take heed” to the Words he and the other apostles spoke and wrote to them in that those Spirit-inspired Words were God’s light that He was shining into the darkness of the religious world. The purpose of the apostles’ work was to cause Jesus Christ–THE light (Word) of God–to take root in the hearts (minds) of those who heard it. Recall that in John 9:5 Jesus said that He was the LIGHT OF THE WORLD. In Matthew 5:4 He told the apostles that they were the LIGHT OF THE WORLD. If they themselves were the light, the light would have gone out with their deaths. Therefore we must conclude that something they both possessed constituted God’s light that shined out from them. That something was His WORD–His TRUTH (Jn. 17:17) that will never die. God’s WORD/TRUTH/LIGHT will never die, never fade, never fail.

Verse 20 is anathema to the 2,000,000,000+ people who today proclaim that the Holy Bible is God’s Word. It is due to the global rejection of this verse that the earth is cursed with two churches and several hundred mini-churches (denominations/sects/cults, etc.), each and every one of which is an abomination to the Lord, as are those who reject verse 20 and all other church-condemning, woe-producing verses. Verse 21 explains why the Lord condemns and rejects all who are affiliated with Satan’s church system (Catholicism/Protestantism). Here God speaks via His Holy Spirit to the Apostle Peter, telling him how the world came to have His Word. Peter then tells us that the Old Testament prophets spoke (and wrote) the Words God spoke to them through His Holy Spirit. The same principle applies to the New Testament Apostles who obey the same God Who spoke the same Truth to them by way of the same Spirit. God does not change ((Mal. 3:6); He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8). Since the Garden of Eden His way, His Truth, His will, His Law, His gospel have not changed. The Institutional Church–the focus of this ministry–says “not so.” Believing that she has been given the power to correct God’s errors, she has done so extensively. See the Introduction to this website for a few examples of such “corrections.”

Religious man’s craving for self-rule has prompted him to change, add to and remove from God’s Truth those parts that offend him (80-90%). Under Satan’s tutelage churchman has managed to alter the Word of the Almighty so as to assure self-determination relative to right and wrong. As a result of this rebellion against His Word, the Counterfeit Church has proved that very Word true by calling good evil and evil good as was prophesied in Isaiah 5:20. As the Lord said through Isaiah, she will bring woe upon herself. Blinded by Satan, modern churchmen suffer from the same blindness as did the people in the church at Laodicea. Convinced that they and God are soul-mates, modern religionists do not realize that they are “wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked” (Rev. 3:17).
