As God tells us through the apostle Paul, saints must deal with Satan’s people on a social, economic, political, etc. level as part of this life, just as did Jesus. In order to avoid them we would “need to go out of the world” (1 Cor. 5:9-13). However, as He makes equally plain, we are not to be involved with them on the spiritual level. Recall that the Israelites traded and socialized with the world around them, BUT THEY KEPT THEIR DISTANCE FROM THEM SPIRITUALLY. This is the pattern we are commanded to follow. The Lord tells us in 2 Jn. 8-11 not to allow the worldly religious into our homes for the purpose of discussing spiritual matters, for to do so would cause us to “share in their evil deeds.” “But this doesn’t make sense” is the usual lament. This is irrelevant. It makes sense to God, Whose ways are above our ways. We are to obey Him. Period. The rest is His business. Churchman rejects God’s method of operation because it bypasses his intellect.

God’s people are commanded to walk in God’s light even though the world, including the church world, is walking in darkness. Jesus is the Head of His Body–the Church of God. Only those who obey Him are “in Him.” There is no darkness in Him (1 Jn. 1:5). Therefore, to be “in Him” one must also be free of darkness. Disobedience to God’s Word (sin) is darkness. Sinners are in darkness and therefore must be avoided on the spiritual level so as not to bring darkness into the Body of Christ. So how do those in darkness gain access to God’s light? is the question. God tells us that those who are truly seeking God will come to the saint’s light on an individual basis, which is how God’s people must deal with God-seekers. Only a few, He tells us, seek Him. The masses, He warns, will flock to Satan’s false light which God calls “great darkness” (Mat. 6:23) because it claims to be His light. A quick look into any phone book under the heading “Churches” will reveal how successful Satan has been at drawing people to his light.

What will be the ultimate outcome of America’s rebellion against God? The Prophet Isaiah tells us in chapter one. Note that he wrote this long after God had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. “Hear the Word of the Lord you RULERS OF SODOM; give ear to the Law of the Lord, you PEOPLE OF GOMORRAH.” Here God is comparing the Israelites of Isaiah’s day to Sodom and Gomorrah because they had embraced homosexuality, as have many religious people today. Notice how the Lord describes modern America in the final part of His warning: “I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against Me” (vs 2). “They have rebelled against the Lord; they have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward” (vs 4). “You revolt more and more. The whole head (leadership) is sick, the whole heart (populace) faints (is spiritually weak). From the sole of the feet even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and putrefying sores …. Your whole country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire, strangers devour your land in your presence” (vss 5-7). The people of America have indeed revolted against and turned their backs on God. Her leadership is of all people most corrupt. The spirit of rebellion has taken over the nation. At present a few of our cities are burning; soon all major cities will be in flames as a race war envelops the nation. Strangers from other countries are indeed devouring our land as we stand and watch hundreds of thousands pour across our borders to devour what we have produced. GOD PROPHESIED IT; IT IS HAPPENING BEFORE OUR EYES. Military defeat and enslavement are coming. You will not find help in the so-called church. No help will come from our social agencies, nor from our government–all will go up in flames. Help can come only from the Word of God, which is God in written form. God deals with the individual; there is no corporate salvation. Obedience to His Word is the only way to get to Him. He and His Word are one (Jn. 1:1-4,14/Rev. 19:13).

Why is God pouring out this “beginning of sorrows” on our once-blessed nation? BECAUSE SHE HAS REJECTED HIS WORD AND HAS THEREFORE REJECTED HIM. Isaiah warned today’s sin-lovers: “… this is a rebellious people, lying children who will not hear the Law of the Lord, who say to the seers (ministers), ‘Do not see,’ and to the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy to us right things; speak to us smooth (ear-scratching) things, prophesy deceits. Get out of the (our) way, turn aside from the (God’s) path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us'” (stop showing us His ways) (30:9-11). Notice why God had His prophets record everything that happened in their day: “Now all these things happened to them (Israel) as examples, and they were written for our admonition (instruction), upon whom the ENDS OF THE AGES (end time) has come” (1 Cor. 10:11). Approximately 25% of the New Testament consists of quotes from the Old Testament. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah as a warning to us about following in Israel’s footsteps. The world rejects His warnings. Professing Christendom is adopting the world’s mind-set toward sin in general and sex sin in particular. Heathenism reigns supreme within her. The Lord’s warning about a great “falling away” (apostasy) is now coming to pass (2 Thes. 2:3).
