In Exodus 20 we find the Prophet Moses, having met with the Lord atop Mt. Sinai, presenting the nation of Israel His Ten Commandment Law which He had written in stone, thereby making them permanent.  His use of the word “commandment” indicates that there is no alternative, no exception.  What God commands must be obeyed to the letter, otherwise sin occurs and punishment is exacted, the world’s sins and Covid-19 being a current example.

One of the commandments by which God’s people were commanded to live was not new to Israel.  This commandment had been in force since Creation Week when God rested (“refreshed”) Himself (Exo. 2:2; 31:17) on the 7th day of that week.  At that point He proclaimed that the 7th day had special meaning to Him–HE BLESSED AND SANCTIFIED IT  (Gen. 2:3).  Though He states that everything He had created (the entire universe) was “VERY GOOD,” (Gen. 1:31), He did not sanctify any other part of it.  The word “sanctify” in the Hebrew language is “qadas”–to be made holy, sacred, to consecrate, to dedicate, to set apart for holy use.  In Isaiah 58:13 the Lord calls His Sabbath “MY HOLY DAY.” Note that the Almighty specifically designated the 7th day of the week as HIS HOLY DAY AND MEMORIALIZED IT FOREVER IN THE 4TH COMMANDMENT.   In Exodus 20 we are commanded to “REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY AND KEEP IT HOLY.”  Note He said that His people would remember THE Sabbath Day and keep IT holy.  The Ten Commandments constituted His complete Law (Genesis to Revelation) in miniature.  If one obeys ALL OF THEM them one obeys the entire Law.  However, if one disobeys ONE OF THEM one is guilty of iniquity (Lawlessness) and one’s faith is declared dead (Jam. 2:10,14,17,18,20,22,24,26).

God, Who created everything that exists, sanctified only one other creation–His true saints (holy ones), whom He set aside, consecrated and dedicated unto Himself.  His holy ones are holy because they choose to obey His Law.  He calls them His “holy people,” His “peculiar people,” His “holy nation,” His “holy priesthood,” His “peculiar treasure.”  Doesn’t it make sense that He would unite His holy people and His holy day?  He did exactly that.  The 7th day Sabbath is the “sign” that Sabbath keepers are His people (Exo. 31:13,17).  It was unholy people, under the leadership of their god–Satan–who changed God’s holy Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday.  Unholy people continue to observe Satan’s Sabbath to this day.  Read The Mark of the Beast.  Key word–Mark.  To learn why a covenant God made with Israel applies to His modern day church, read Who and Where is Israel Today?  Key word–Today.

The Lord knew that Satan would use the weekly Sabbath to lure men to himself.  For this reason God did several things relative to His Holy, blessed, sanctified Sabbath in order to emphasize its importance.  He used more words in writing the 4th commandment than in writing any other commandment–92 words (Exo. 20:9-11).  Equally important is the fact that He called His Sabbath “MY HOLY DAY,” THEREBY PLACING HIS NAME IN THAT DAY. 

Does it not seem strange that the Creator of the very good, holy, blessed, sanctified Sabbath Day would allow very bad, unholy, unblessed, non-sanctified men to change it to another day, then allow man’s new sabbath to be the sign that identifies His people?  Isn’t it strange that He nailed His blessed and sanctified day–the day in which He placed His name–to the cross?  Catholics and Protestants contend that it is not strange at all in that “the church,” not God or His Son, rules professing Christendom.  However, churchites are wrong.  They are not in charge of their theology.  Their god–Satan–is.

One might ask how the “Sabbath Switch” was performed.  Church history tells us.  Pope Sylvester I, during the Council of Laodicea in 364 A.D., made the Sunday Sabbath a law throughout the Catholic Church.  Bowing to pressure from the church’s sun worshiping “converts,” he codified for the church what the Roman Emperor Constantine had made a law for the Roman Empire several years earlier.  Sunday–“the venerable day of the sun”–still reigns supreme within self-professed Christendom to this day.  I find it interesting that Jesus allowed man to change a Law that He had declared unchangeable and eternal.  After all, He came to earth to “magnify the Law and make it honorable (again)” (Isa. 42:21).  One has to wonder why it took 333 years (31-364 A.D.) for Him–“the Lord Who changes not–to change His mind and to allow the church to honor another god–the sun?

God tells us in Jeremiah 10:2 to: “Learn not the ways of the heathen” for they are an abomination unto Him.  Nothing is more abominable than worshiping the heathens’ sun god on the sun god’s day–sun day.  Sunday sabbathers disagree.  Their god obviously knows best.

As stated, God Himself refers to the 7th day (Saturday) Sabbath as “My Holy Day.”  He calls that holy day “MY Sabbath” 16 times, “THE Sabbath” 117 times and “THE HOLY Sabbath” 16 times.  According to Sabbath rejecters He cares so little for His holy, blessed, sanctified day that he allows man to do whatever they want to do on that day.  When He says He is “… the Lord of the Sabbath,” He obviously doesn’t mean it.  That title belongs to the god of the church.  This leaves no doubt as to who is in control of professing Christendom.  For more proof of Satan’s lordship over professing Christendom read the Introduction to this website.  L.J.
