(3) ORIGINAL SIN: Who was the first sinner? Who was the first to break God’s Law? The answer is Lucifer, the most incredible angel God ever created. So magnificent was he that the Lord God Almighty called him “son of the morning” (morning star)–Isa. 14:12. Nowhere are we told that Lucifer was created anything less than perfect. But from day one he had something that every angel has–the power of choice. Every angel had a choice as to either obey God or disobey Him. Incredibly, Lucifer chose to disobey His Creator. Equally incredible is the fact that one-third of the angels also chose to disobey him in obedience to the leader of the angelic rebellion against their new god–Lucifer–Satan, the devil. Noticeably, two-thirds of the angels created by God chose to obey Him. The point being made is that they all had the power of choice. For them to sin was a personal decision made through their gift of reason. Lucifer and his disciples chose to sin.
In the 28th chapter of Ezekiel the Lord speaks to the prophet, telling him to declare a lamentation (a verbal woe) against Lucifer, the spiritual “king” of Tyre, a city known for its wickedness that was apparently Satan’s headquarters. Beginning with verse 11 we find the Lord reminding him of his former status as the ruler and caretaker of planet earth–the most beautiful of all the planets. The following verses describe the fallen angel as being endowed with wisdom, grace and beauty. He had ruled the earth from a throne located in “Eden, the garden of God.” Every precious stone in the universe had been given to him. He had walked in the midst of stones of fire. He had been created perfect in every way and had remained so “… UNTIL INIQUITY (LAWLESSNESS) WAS FOUND IN YOU.” His brightness had caused him to fall into self-worship. Nowhere are we told that either Lucifer or the other angels had been created with sin as part of their spiritual makeup. All were created in perfect union with God and the Word (Adonai) Jn. 1:1-4,14)
Then came the “war in heaven” (Rev. 12:7) during which the heavenly bodies God had created were trashed and left in that condition until God (Elohim–Gods) came to earth to REcreate what had been destroyed. Even the sun, moon and stars were darkened by the heavenly war. The earth, sun, moon and stars have been returned to the state in which they were created. God did not create the moon and planets “without form and void” (Heb.–tohu and bohu) as they are described in Genesis 1:2. The sun, moon and stars were not created dark and without lumination. Understand that there was a time lapse of possibly thousands, maybe millions, or even billions of years between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. During the war the earth had experienced a flood that covered it completely and destroyed everything that existed, including vegetation. In short, Genesis 1 details the Gods REcreation of the earth and the heavenly bodies in five days. On day six They created man (Heb.–Adam). The following day They (henceforth identified by the word “God”) created the Sabbath for man.
During the process of Adam’s creation there is not the slightest hint of sin being made part of his spiritual dna. Nor was sin found in Eve upon her creation. Nor was there sin found in Cain UNTIL INIQUITY WAS FOUND IN HIM. Nor was sin found in Abel, whom Jesus called “righteous.” Contrary to universal opinion, nor was sin found in any human being ever descended from Adam and Eve UNTIL INIQUITY IS FOUND IN THEM. Sin is a choice. Man makes his choice, as did Lucifer, one-third of God’s angels, Adam and Eve. Satan cannot force anyone to sin. If he could have done so, he would not have needed to deceive Adam and Eve, just as he has every human who has ever sinned.
Adam and Eve were created sinless and perfect–and having a choice. God could not create anything less than perfect. So what about poisonous snakes, man-killing animals, viruses, diseases, etc. From whence did they come? All enemies of man became his enemies after Adam and Eve’s iniquity. Note that thistles and thorns were a RESULT of their sin (Gen. 3:18), as was disease, natural disasters, wars, etc. Prior to their sin there was no mention of anything in nature or in mankind being man’s enemy. Recall that God brought every creature He had created to Adam so that he could name them. This included lions, tigers, cobras, etc. There is no mention of Adam fearing to any of them. Nor is there a mention of his needing to avoid them. His fall cause everything in nature to change from being his friend to being his enemy. Even the ground was cursed because of his sin. However, there was no mention of his sin being passed on to his offspring. If such a spiritual sin transferal did take place, why is there no mention of it? And why did it not show up in Abel, or John the Baptist? or Jesus of Nazareth? Jesus said He did not come to earth for the righteous, but for sinners. Who were the righteous? If there were no righteous people, why did He mention them? So where did the “Original Sin” theory originate? The same place all sin-producing error comes from–SATAN.
The church had never heard of the Original Sin theory until a priest in the Hippo area of North Africa named Augustine came up with it in order to justify baptizing infants and young children. A deadly disease was killing off the native children in the area. Catholic converts wanted their children baptized so that if they died they would be assured a place in heaven. Augustine, knowing that sin was the transgression of God’s Law, and that the children had not broken His Law, the priest had to concoct a plausible theory that would appease the parents, as well as his superiors. As one would expect, the sin-excusing theory took the church by storm. Soon it was being preached as “God’s Truth.” Over time it became a basic tenant of the Catholic Church. Anything that gave man a right to sin with impunity was quickly embraced by all who have Satan’s character, and still is today. In a short time the theory of Original Sin had permeated both Catholic and Protestant church systems.
What made Augustine’s theory so “right” was that it shifted the blame for man’s sins from himself to Adam, making sin a natural part of man’s existence over which he (man) has no control. Christendom’s (Satan’s) seminaries have placed the lie alongside the Sunday Sabbath, the rapture and other such “doctrines of devils.” Though not one of the three theories is Biblical, they are proclaimed world-wide as undeniable “Bible Truths.” Satan has so deceived the church masses that if anyone tells the truth about the subject, that one immediately becomes persona non-grata and labeled a reprobate. I proudly wear that title when it is given to me by those in the Institutional Church.
Adam’s miraculous sin transferal did not and does not take place. Incredibly, the vast majority of churchites believe the theory and are unwilling to examine the Biblical facts relating to it–God’s “fine print.” It’s most vocal supporters call themselves “Sinners Saved By Grace.” The Original Sin theory enables them to sin at will, then look to either Mary or Jesus to not merely make it go away, but to replace it with righteousness. Christ’s death on the cross supposedly makes the sin-to-righteousness transition happen. Read The Message of the Cross and Adam’s Miracle. Key words–Cross and Adam’s respectively. L.J.
