For almost 300 years the church that Jesus Christ founded on the Day of Pentecost 31 A.D. observed the seventh day (Saturday) Sabbath without question because that was the day their Lord had created in the Garden of Eden for all mankind for all time. On that day He had placed His name in it, claimed it as His own, blessed it, made it holy, commanded man to observe it and formulated His rules for doing so. At no time did He tell anyone–not Adam and Eve, not Abel, not Noah, not Abraham, neither His prophets nor His apostles that they or anyone else could change it to another day. The Seventh Day Sabbath later became a vital part of His stone-etched Law by which He commanded mankind to live. As Jesus of Nazareth He would later proclaim that not one jot or tittle could be added to or taken away from that Law (Mat. 5:18) which defined both righteousness and sin–righteousness if one obeyed it; sin if one disobeyed it (1 Jn. 3:4).
Satan knew that by breaking one commandment of the Law one would be breaking the entire Law, thereby making one a worker of iniquity (Lawlessness) whom Jesus would reject on the Day of Judgment (Mk. 7:23). Knowing that the fourth commandment would be the commandment easiest for man to break, he used the Catholic Church and the Roman Government to make iniquity (the nailing of the Law to the cross) the mantra of professing Christendom. As a result, rejection of against God’s Sabbath Day has for some 1700 years been the primary “mark” or “sign” by which Catholics and Protestants are known. The way one can tell who in an area belongs to Satan is to notice where masses of people congregate on his Sunday Sabbath. In order to identify God’s people one need notice where people congregate on the previous day. One will need to search diligently for them for they are minutely few in number, just as Jesus said would be the case in Matthew 7:13,14.
The aforementioned brings up an all-important question. Are the two Sabbaths actually “marks” or “signs” of spiritual ownership? Does the day we observe as our Sabbath signify which deity we worship, serve and obey and whose words we believe? Does our Sabbath proclaim to the world who owns us body and spirit? does it declare who bought us “for a price? Does our Sabbath choice denote at whose feet we bow and upon whom we depend for our salvation? IS OUR CHOICE OF SABBATH THE “SIGN” OR “MARK” THAT DECLARES TO THE WORLD WHO AND WHAT WE ARE?
To answer these questions we return to Mt. Sinai where God is speaking to the Israelites relative to the observance of His Sabbath Day. Let us notice the rules He laid down concerning what could and could not be done on that day. In His message He commands those who would be His people to remember THE (not a) Sabbath day and to keep IT (not any other day) holy. NO WORK was to be done on THAT day. The Lord stated that THE SEVENTH DAY of the week was “… THE Sabbath of THE Lord your God.” The Word “THE” dictates that there is no other day and no other God for those who claim Him as their master. The Lord, not man, chose the seventh day of the week as His Sabbath Day, blessed it and made it holy. Man is commanded to KEEP it holy. “Keep” is a military term that means to surround and protect. Knowing that man would minimize the Law and dishonor it, Jesus came to earth to “MAGNIFY THE LAW AND MAKE IT HONORABLE (AGAIN)”–Isaiah 42:21). His Law-restoring work proved to be successful, but only for a short time. History proves that religious man, operating under the power of Satan, soon nullified and dishonored it. Today only a minutely few Truth seekers know what happened and are warning those with ears to hear and eyes to see. L.J.
