The world-wide information source known as “the internet” offers its viewers various types of information, some of which is valuable to those seeking insight into particular subjects. For example, YouTube offers a steady diet of military power reports in which two important questions are asked and answered: Which nation is the most powerful? Whose military is the most deadly? People with in-depth knowledge of this type of information offer their insight into such matters. Generally, there is agreement among the sources concerning the ultimate power on a nation-to-nation basis. It is obvious from the number of hits these postings receive that many people are interested in military power. This is due to the fact that at any given time there are over a hundred wars, conflicts, etc. being waged among the people who inhabit the earth. However, the answer to the above stated questions is not who has what and who can do what? The answer to the question of the ultimate power is found in one word, a word that means very little in today’s material-dominated world. The word embodies, not a material entity, but an ethereal concept–an intangible belief that even the most primitive of people look to in order to explain the unexplainable. In the history of mankind, untold masses of people have been killed in the name of this unseen entity. This entity has caused seemingly reasonable people to do things that defy human reasoning. This entity is religion.
What else could compel an otherwise reasonable person to deliberately kill himself and dozens of total strangers? What other power could entice a loving mother to throw her children off a bridge, or drown them in a bath tub? What force could make loving parents believe that offering one’s child for sacrifice is a good idea? What else could cause a group to kill millions of innocent people simply because they disagreed with them? What could cause people to mutilate themselves in the belief that the shedding of their own blood draws them closer to their deity(s)? What unseen entity could cause a group to kill strangers, bury them in shallow graves until their flesh wastes away, then use their skeletons in their worship services? What could cause a people to consume a drug in the name of their god that causes them to lose all control over their actions? What could cause people to consume the flesh of their enemy in the belief that his body will give them added spiritual and physical power? What could entice people to worship such things as animals, fire, serpents, planets, etc? Only one entity has the power to cause mankind to do the above–religion. And only one being could wield total power over that religion and all of its various manifestations–Satan–the father of false religion. The majority of citizens that make up our civilized world would agree with what is written above. But what those citizens fail to realize is that the same spiritual entity also wields total power over them, as the following will prove. L.J.
