Some 30 years ago a national poll revealed that among Americans, the most often read written material was the T.V. Guide. Now with the world in every pocket and instantly available, the entertainment industry has pushed its offerings to new heights in order to satisfy the titillation-obsessed minds of the American public. But she is not alone. From what I can gather, the rest of civilized world is following her lead. Over time the types of entertainment the global public craves and consumes have changed along with the intensity of its craving. I am not easily shocked. But I am shocked to my core at the offerings found on the internet. Side-by-side with postings such as mine (found on YouTube at proveallthingsofgod) one will often find people having a variety of sexual encounters with absolutely nothing left to the imagination. Though 75 and having seen much in terms of what Satan has to offer, even I am taken aback at what is offered as standard fare on the internet, on television, in movies and in song. Why have those in the entertainment industry stooped to such all-time lows ? BECAUSE SATAN’S PEOPLE DEMAND IT OF THEM. Why do his people demand ever increasing sin and degradation from their pleasure providers? BECAUSE THEIR GOD DEMANDS IT OF THEM. As stated in an earlier posting, the transition of nation emphasis from the Biblical God to the god of self has created a spiritual vacuum within so-called Christian Nations. A vacuum demands to be filled. Satan has filled the world’s spiritual vacuum with his soul-damning offerings. And both the churched and the unchurched embrace his offerings. As the Lord said in Jeremiah 5:30,31, “A powerful and terrible thing is being committed in the land … and My people love to have it so” (Jer. 5:30,31). In His Word the Lord makes it clear that those who spend more time in entertainment offerings than they do in His Word will have no part in His kingdom.

Not only are the days evil, that evil is addictive. Evil lures its victims to Satan like a moth to a flame. There are those whose lives revolve around meeting their craving for mental and emotional stimulation. A real life example is in order. I know a lady who periodically hears God’s call for her to come to Him. I can tell when she comes under conviction, for she will buy a new Bible and announce that she is going to begin a “program of Bible study.” She does so with the greatest of intentions. But invariably Satan’s siren call to return to his world overcomes God’s call to involve herself in His Word. The result is always the same–victory for the devil. Indeed, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Mat. 26:41). But, according to this former missionary, all is well with her soul because she is “saved.” Apparently she is saved from having to “Study to show yourself approved of God” (2 Tim. 2:15) and to “Prove all things” by His Word (1 Thes. 5:21). Being approved of God for having “joined the church,” etc., and having proved what is of value by the t.v. listings, she has plenty of time to “think on these (valuable) things” (Phil. 4:8,9). As she relaxes in her favorite chair and aims the remote, Satan smiles, knowing that for the next several hours her heart (mind), along with those of billions of fellow broad path walkers (Mat. 7:13,14), will be open to him.
