Prophecy, Revelation And Revolution: How We Got Here (Pt. 1)

In the Book of Daniel we find God revealing to His prophet what the world would experience during the days leading up to the end of the age.  Daniel had been brought before Babylonian King Nebuchadnazzer to interpret a dream that had greatly disturbed the most powerful man on earth.  The Lord had sent him the dream to explain the geo-political-military changes that would take place on earth in the future.  He also sent Daniel a series of dreams and visions that revealed what would take place during that time, a period He called “the time of the end” and “days to come” (Dan. 2:1-12:4).  He also told the prophet that at the end of the end time He would reveal the meaning of his dreams and visions to His messengers so that His true believers would know that the end of the age was near, “even at the door.”

Daniel was known as one who could foretell the future.  But Daniel being Daniel, he made certain that people then and now knew Who was the real Teller of the future by saying: “Blessed is the name of God for ever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.  He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to them that have understanding (minds open to His Word); He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells in Him.  I thank You and praise You O God of my forefathers Who has given me knowledge ….” (Dan. 2:20-23).  Much of the Bible is prophecy and most of that prophecy is for the “last days,” the days in which we live.

The “last days” began on Pentecost 31 A.D. with the founding of the New Testament Church in Jerusalem.  Peter voiced this truth when he explained to the Jews who had gathered outside the building where the disciples were meeting.  God had poured out His Holy Spirit on those who had gathered there, causing them to speak in the tongues of the various people who had come to the city from “every nation under heaven.”  As would be expected, this had caused quite a commotion.  People wanted to know what was happening.  Peter explained, saying: “THIS is THAT which was spoken by the prophet Joel, ‘IN THE LAST DAYS, says God, ‘I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh ….”  He then identified “all flesh” as His servants and handmaids–those who lived in obedience to Him (Acts 2:16-18).  We are living in those prophesied “last days” and are watching God pour out His wrath on sin-saturated man, as He promised.  Read all of Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28.   As Jesus said in Matthew 24 about the last days, God’s wrath would come in the form of wars, natural disasters, diseases, famines, earthquakes, etc.  See Would God do That?

As prophesied, we are living “as in the days of Noah” when the hearts of men “are on evil continually.”  Through His prophets and Apostles God warned that He would demonstrate His attitude toward sinners in ever more deadly ways and with ever more frequency.  The COVID-19 pandemic is merely the latest installment of such punishment.  God’s “messages” will grow “louder” as man doubles down on his right to sin.  As the Lord said, man will grow ever more sinful with the passage of time.  This amoral wave will be led by the church which claims that the wages of her sins is not death (Rom. 6:23), but rather eternal life as Satan promised Adam and Eve.  See The Covid-19 Pandemic: The Cause is the Cure.

Recall that Daniel was told to write what he had seen and heard in a “book” (scroll) and “seal” it up. The Lord prophesied that it would remain sealed until “the time of the end” (Dan. 12:4).  God would then speak to His true ministers, warning them about what was soon to come on the earth. They in turn would warn His true saints so that they can prepare.  L.J.
