As did their ancient Laodicean predecessors (Rev. 3:14-22), modern day religious Progressives have a governance problem–they refuse to be governed by God’s Law by which He rules His true church. Like their original parents of Eden fame, they reject God’s government in which there are only two ways to “walk” (live)–His way or the highway. Adam and Eve’s religious children want as many ways to choose from as there are religious cults (denominations, churches, faiths, heathen religions, etc.). As Jesus reveals in Matthew 16:23, Satan gives his followers as many options as they desire in order to satisfy their quest for self-governance. Should there arise a group who wants to create a new way, he is quick to bring it into being. It seems that there is a never-ending supply of men and women with a “new and improved” way of serving the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4) while “knowing” that they are serving the Biblical God. Indeed, as Jesus said to Satan, he is not interested in the ways of God, but only in the ways of man. Satan is unequalled in the art of providing man with whatever he desires in the religious realm. The end result of this theological principle is what is known as “Christianity” in the Laodicean/Progressive world. Christianity in today’s world is a multiple choice endeavor. The irony of this situation is that God’s way–the way those in all churches claim to be walking–is walked by only about one percent of those who call themselves by His name.
The reason for this phenomenon was predicted by Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:12 some 2000 years ago. Here He prophesied that, before His return, “… the love of many (for His Law, and therefore for Him) will grow cold.” One’s love for God has only one method of expression–obedience to His Ten Commandment Law (1 Jn. 5:3-5/ Jn. 14:15,23). And there is the other side of that spiritual coin. Jesus noted that His love for man is tied to man’s keeping His Ten Commandments, just as God’s love for Him (Jesus) was dependent on His keeping of those same commandments (Jn. 15:10). Read that verse very carefully. Never forget that Jesus was a human being like all other human beings. His relationship with God was no different from our POTENTIAL relationship with Him (God). This is brought out clearly in First John 2:3-5. In the following verse John explains that in order to be Christ’s spiritual brethren we must indeed “walk (live) even as He lived.” In order to do that we must “… overcome (Satan’s temptations to sin) even as I (Jesus) overcame” (Him). Only those who do will sit with Him on His throne in the Kingdom of God (Rev. 3:21). Read that verse very carefully.
The above Truths are made abundantly clear in my favorite passage in the Holy Bible–First John 3:1-10. I suggest that Truth seekers study that lesson periodically in order to remind themselves of how far Progressive Christianity has fallen away from the Lord. This tragedy is known as “apostasy,” which the Apostle Paul said would take place in the church just prior to Christ’s return to earth (2 Thess. 2:3).
As did their ancient Laodicean ancestors, the modern Progressive religionist has “grown weary of well-doing.” In Galatians 6:p Paul makes clear the fact that we cannot do evil works (sin–break God’s Law) and expect to receive the promises of God: “And let us not grow weary in well-doing; for in due season we will reap (God’s promises) IF we continue to do good.”
We must not succumb to the “quiet quitting” that is gaining ground in the world around us and is rapidly becoming the dominant spirit of the (Laodicean) age. Jesus warns about this attitude in Matthew 24:37-39: “Watch therefore, for you do not know the hour when your Lord will return” (vs 42). The Laodicean/Progressive salvation seekers of the current age are ignoring the spirit of antichrist that is eating away at the soul of mankind. With their attention rivetted on everything but the Word of God, the world’s people, including those of in the church, have become low-hanging fruit for Satan and his evil spirits.
We must be zealous servants of the Lord Jesus Christ as we prepare for His soon arrival. “Who is a faithful and wise servant, whom His lord has made ruler over his household, to give them meat (His Truth) in due season? Blessed is that servant whom His Lord when He comes finds him (His servant) so doing” (Mat. 24: 37-46. We need to periodically ask ourselves: Am I ready for Christ’s return? By following in the footsteps of Jesus of Nazareth we reject the Progressive mind-set and obey His command for righteousness and holiness–THE END RESULT OF WHICH IS ETERNAL LIFE (Rom. 5:21; 6:22).
As I have been predicting for several years, their is a “revival” movement taking place throughout the so-called “Christian nations” of the world. There will indeed be a religious revival as things grow progressively worse. However, this Godless “revival” will manifest itself in a return to the same Catholic/Protestant, business-as-usual, the-Law-is-dead theology by which Satan has deceived the whole world (Rev. 12:9). The only change the revival trend will produce will be a return to the standard beliefs and customs that brough the church and the nation down. Only those minutely few in God’s tiny church will stay the Biblical course from which they never departed.
The basic problem is the church’s and their host nations’ ignorance of and disinterest in God’s Truth. The promise of instant salvation as the guaranteed reward for making a mental decision is much more attractive than the promise of a future salvation for having obeyed strict orders from a demanding God. History has proven that God looses 99% of the time when salvation seekers are given those two choices. L.J.
