Progressive Christianity (Pt. 3)

In Revelation 3 Jesus accuses the Laodiceans (modern-day Progressives) of being blind and naked and compares their leaders to sleeping watchdogs who fail to alert the people that trouble is in their midst. The reason is that they (their hireling ministers) are themselves the trouble. As the Lord said, “I did not send them.” Satan did.

Jesus Christ said that a true servant (pastors, evangelists, etc.) will be found doing what he is supposed to be doing the way he is supposed to be doing it when his master returns (Mat. 24:45-47). In the area of work there is a movement known as “quiet quitting” that has become a major problem for employers. “Quiet quitting” means that one does only as much as is necessary in order not to get fired. Progressive christians are quiet quitters. Though they “know” that they are saved, etc., they know that they need to keep up appearances in order to be seen as “true believers” by others who are also practicing “quiet quitting.” The five foolish virgins were quiet quitters. Though known as “virgins” (christians), they were just going through the motions of true sainthood.

Continuing where Jesus left off in Matthew 24, the Apostle Paul said: “… knowing that now it is high time to awaken out of (spiritual) sleep, for NOW OUR SALVATION IS CLOSER THAN WHEN WE FIRST BELIEVED” (Rom. 13:11). That is one of the most powerful, insightful, church-condemning statements found in the Holy Scriptures. Why? Because we are told that, having performed the prescribed ritual and having repeated the words the preacher has fed us, that we are saved, born again and heaven bound–every word of which is a lie as this website has proven many times. Satan has been directing his false prophets to continually assure his deceived masses that they are saved, etc. now. Read Hope and Salvation, Born Again and Salvation Hustlers. Key words Hope, Born and Hustlers respectively.

Satan is filled with wrath because he knows that the time he has left to deceive true believers is growing rapidly short (Rev. 12:12). Do we understand that truth as well as does the devil? We must live like we know that truth. We must not be caught napping as Christ’s return draws ever nearer (Mk. 13:35,36). We must not become as the spiritually blind and naked Progressives (Biblical Laodiceans).

Paul continues in Romans 13: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light (vs. 12). Spiritually speaking, we are in the final minutes of the last hour before Christ returns to gather His Very Elect saints to Himself and to take them to Jerusalem where He will begin to build the Kingdom of God where He and they will live forever. Read The Kingdom of God. Key word–Kingdom. The word “armor” in the above context refers to instruments of war which include a helmet, sword and shield. Being “awake” spiritually will drive us to arm ourselves for the war ahead as the devil amps up his soul-destroying efforts. He will be so effective that even God’s Very Elect saints will be subject to his temptations (Mat. 24:24).

The Apostle Paul wrote many warnings in his epistles to the people of his day which apply to the people of this day. In Hebrews 2:1 he told the Israelite converts: “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” He is admonishing us to consciously direct our minds to remembering what we have been taught (from God’s Word–not church doctrine) and to obey those teachings. We must apply more force and energy to remembering the Words of the Lord than to doing anything else while walking through this short life. With all of the modern distractions with which the devil distracts the blinded church (television, the internet, sports, etc.), many view going to church as an imposition that takes them away from the important things of this life. During football season a local pastor dismissed the men of his church early from his Sunday morning sermon so that they could watch the kickoff of the Dallas Cowboy games on a television. And they did not need to leave the building. He provided a room and a television for that purpose. He knew that their minds would be on the game and their eyes would be on their watches. That was many years ago. Today their religious descendants probably watch the kickoff on the portable plastic brains they carry in their pockets. If I wrote a book about the modern human being I would title it: The Zombie Generation: Life In A Box.

During this short qualifying tour called life we must keep our focus on the things that God has taught us in order to qualify for the next life. He warns us that if we fail to do so, His Truths can slip away from us. In Hebrews 2:3 Paul warns us that if we are not diligent we will “neglect so a great salvation.” To miss out on this incredible calling, all we have to do is neglect it. Satan makes it extremely easy to allow the interests and cares of this world to dominate our minds. The Progressive mindset that will lead us to becoming one with the world. The Lord tells us that, though we are IN Satan’s world, me must not be OF that world. We are mentally captured by the things we allow into our minds, things that remain there as long as we live. Primarily through our eyes and ears we mentally consume that which we like to see and hear, which are the things that we spend the most time watching and hearing. God has taken television, radio, etc. away from me for that reason. I asked Him to remove from my life everything that is not of Him. He did, and I am free of them. Praise His holy name, I am free of the world’s pull and am enjoying life like never before. Won’t you join me? L.J.
