The name nicolaus means “conqueror (nico) of people” (laus), from which we get the word “laity.” Nicolas, who was chosen to help with the early church’s service to those in need, was a Gentile (heathen) proselyte who, when he was “converted,” failed to leave his former religion behind. Instead, he chose to blend it with his new religion and to tell others in the church about his “better way to worship Jesus,” meaning “do it your way.” Those in the church who embraced his Christian/heathen mix were called Nicolaitans who were church people whom Nicolas spiritually conquered on behalf of his god–Satan. Once having been accepted by a significant number of church members, the Nicolaitan spirit grew exponentially as more and more salvation seekers followed in the footsteps of Adam and determined good and evil for themselves (Gen. 3:22).

However, there was then and has always been a small, Truth-embracing group of God’s Very Elect saints who refused to go along with the crowd and spiritually separated themselves from their church counterparts. These are those whom God calls His “remnant,” His “little flock.” These are those within the church described by the Apostle Peter as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people who show forth the praises of Him Who has called them out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9).

Jesus warned in Matthew 7:13,14; 22:14 that, though many would be called to enter His strait (small) gate and walk His narrow (difficult) way in this life, few would receive salvation upon His Second Advent for having answered His call. This posting will trace the historical effect of the spirit of Nicolas which has not merely remained within the church, but has, over the years, become the dominant force within her. The tiny bit of leaven that was allowed to enter the early church in the person of a man named Nicolas has indeed infected the entire church as Christ’s description of the modern (Laodicean) church reveals in Revelation 3:14-20. It is obvious that the church is 99% leaven. Notice that He compares modern Christianity to vomit in His mouth which He will spew out and into the Great Tribulation and Day of the Lord. As the introduction to this website records, the spirit of Nicolas is THE dominant factor in the modern Laodicean (Nicolaitan) church’s two divisions and among her hundreds of cults. Combined, this motley crew is known as “the church,” which, if correctly named, would be “the Church of Nicolas” because she which has embraced the Nicolaitan spirit. However, as church history attests, not everyone in “the church” has embraced Nicholas’ religion. God’s tiny remnant of peculiar saints continue to resist the call of Satan. Understand this: NO MATTER WHAT THE RELIGION IS CALLED, ITS SOURCE OF POWER AND DOCTRINE IS SATAN, THE SERPENT, THE DRAGON OF SCRIPTURAL FAME. Whether called Christian, Hindu, Wiccan, Muslim, etc., the leadership and power behind it is the same. Only the tiny, rejected, peculiar group known as the Church of God–named by the Lord and used a dozen times in the New Testament–is God’s true church–the obedient disciples of Christ. Any spirit that is not of God is of Satan. His spiritual influence is also called “the spirit of Antichrist” which, as noted in First John 2:18, was at that time already inhabiting many church people by way of Satan’s fallen angels known as “demons” or “devils.” The doctrines by which they continue to deceive salvation seekers are appropriately called “doctrines of devils” by the Apostle Paul in his first letter to Timothy (4:1).

Today we are witnessing the increasing power of those devils as the Catholic/Protestant Religious System embraces whatever Satan sends her way. The problem is not that sexual deviants, witches and liberals of every sort are showing up in the various congregations. The problem is that they are accepted as they are and are expected to remain as they are. They are not commanded to be rid of the demons that control them. Instead, they are allowed to remain in their Satanic state, their only responsibility being to “love Jesus.” Such false believers have brought into the church such things as “Christian rock” music and “just one of the boys” ministers dressed in clothing fit for field work and preaching their “come as you are; stay as you are” style of Christianity. One preacher tells his youthful congregation that God wants them to have fun. Sex is fun, therefore please God by fornicating. Another preacher tells her congregation that Jesus, knowing that they are going to sin, forgives them even before they sin. Another “messenger from God” smokes a cigar and drinks whiskey with two bikini-wearing whores standing beside him. Then there are the television and street corner salvation whores who offer eternal life the instant they repeat a ten second prayer formulated by the whore.

Then there are the billions of Catholics and Protestants who have been deceived by Satan (Rev. 12:9) into believing the doctrines of the various churches, denominations, faiths, cults, etc. he controls. This ministry was commissioned to show church people where they stand with THE Lord–they don’t. However, they do have high standing with THEIR lord–Satan.

The spirit of Nicolas is THE dominant factor within self-named “Christianity.” As the Holy Scriptures tell us repeatedly, JESUS CHRIST PLAYS NO PART IN PROFESSING CHRISTENDOM. HE, ALONG WITH HIS WORD, ARE REJECTED AND SET ASIDE IN FAVOR OF A MORE MAN-CENTERED RELIGION. FOR THIS REASON JESUS “STANDS AT THE DOOR” (A PERSON’S HEART/MIND) AND CALLS HIM/HER TO COME OUT OF SATAN’S RELIGIOUS SEWER. ONLY THOSE FEW WHO COME OUT WILL IT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR HIS MESSAGE OF LIFE.

For this reason the Lord commands true seekers of Truth and life to come out of the Institutional Church and have nothing to do with it. As the Scriptures tell us, God has no dealings with Satan.
