As is normally the case when man gains control of things spiritual, he tends to get the cart before the horse. This is nowhere more evident than in the various church rituals utilized in choosing church leaders. God’s selection process emanates from the top down; man’s way is from the bottom up. This process is designed to give religious man the only say when it comes to church ministry. Man then gives God a part to play in the process by allowing Him to rubber stamp his choices. Before we examine man’s ordination processes we need to study God’s Word to determine exactly how He chooses His ministers and makes them known to those they are assigned to lead.
When the Lord sent the apostles throughout the world to spread His Word His intention was for them to establish churches in each area where they found God-seekers. Some areas produced more seekers than others. But regardless of the numbers involved, a leader would eventually evolve–someone the people looked to for leadership in things spiritual. Later, the apostles would return to check on the churches to see how they were coming along. Those they found to have become leaders would be publicly recognized by the apostles as those whom God had chosen and raised up. These men were readily recognized by the people to have been selected by God. Recognizing the one God had chosen in the local body, the apostles publicly acknowledged them as depicted in Acts 14:23 and Titus 1:5. This process is called “ordination.”
In any given area then and now, God raises up His chosen vessel to lead God-seekers in each area. True seekers of Truth will recognize God’s choice and congregate around that person. However, as He said in Matthew 7:13,14, “few” would seek Him; many would seek what they could get from Him. For this reason He said that where two or three were gathered together in His name He would be with them (Mat. 18: 20). In many areas only a few will listen to His anointed vessel. In some places there is no one interested in His Way.
As was the case in Biblical times, there are those who desire church leadership roles who have not been called by God. Based on what comes out of modern day pulpits and podiums, some 99.9% of church leadership is either self-called, momma-called or Satan-called. Unfortunately most of these false prophets have great oratorical and managerial skills. As a result, their ability to preach soul-rousing sermons, conduct international t.v. ministries, heal the sick, etc. have become “signs” by which the masses identify who has been “called by God” and has “surrendered to the call.” “What you can get from God” has replaced “what you can do for God.” “Every day a pay day” has replaced “Every day an obedience day.” Huge pew and coffer-filling ministries and winning personalities have become the “signs” which identify those whom God has ordained. According to the false church, speaking and living God’s Word are not signs of God’s approval. Instead they are sure “signs” that one has “fallen from grace” and is serving the devil. In the modern religious world the religious tail wags the religious dog.
Man has not only taken over the choosing and ordaining of ministers, he has also assumed the responsibility for instilling his own dogmas in the minds of those he has chosen. Each sect utilizes training organizations to instill such doctrines so as to assure that their hirelings teach and preach only those Scriptures, customs and observances which the sect’s founder deemed appropriate. In each case the emphasis is as much on what parts of the Bible not to minister as on which parts can be ministered. The rejected Scriptures, along with the works and doctrines absorbed from the world of heathenism are what this website–this ministry–is designed by God to expose. Needless to say, this does not make me popular within the religious community. Nothing rouses the ire of a spiritual giant than to be exposed as a religious dwarf. Unfortunately, if such a dwarf should accidentally stumble over God’s Truth, fear and pride prevent him/her from embracing it. And Satan smiles.
In summary, proof of God’s ministerial call on a person’s life is revealed by answering one question: Does the person minister and live God’s Word? By listening to what is put forth by modern day ministers one can readily conclude that in the vast majority of cases the answer is “no.”
