In the Old Testament we find that three nations were PROPHESIED to come into being and to become God’s “light to the Gentiles” at three different times in human history. Those three nations are the nation of Israel, the Commonwealth of Britain and the United States of America–in that order. Though the locations and names of those nations were not identified at the time they were prophesied, they were pre-ordained to rise to world-dominating power and success at three different times in three different areas of the world.
In each case, the land mass God predestined to become His light to the heathen (Gentile) world would need to be physically taken from people who had lived on the land for many generations. Biblical history has revealed that the singular characteristic the native peoples in each area would have in common would be spiritual in nature–they would all be heathen (Gentile). Without exception they would be people who worshiped gods of their own creation, both physical and spiritual, and who practiced such abominations as human sacrifice, cannibalism, suicide, etc.
In each case the people to whom God would give those land masses would initially share one singular characteristic–they would all worship and serve Him. And in all three cases, what would begin as a glorious, divine movement in which God would use His people and the land He had given them for the benefit of the world, would end in total failure on the part of their descendants as they would become like the people their ancestors had replaced. They would become back-sliders who would fall from God’s grace and into the waiting arms of the devil and his false religions. Their modern day British and American descendants identify themselves as Catholics or Protestants. Collectively they call themselves “sinners saved by grace.” Jesus calls them “workers of iniquity”–Lawbreakers. (Mat. 7:21-23).
The original pattern for this travesty began with the re-creation of the earth following the universe-wide war between God and His angels and Lucifer and his angelic followers. In the first chapters of the Book of Genesis we find Elohim (Gods–the Godhead consisting of the God and the Word Who would become Jesus of Nazareth) creating Adam, Eve and the wonderful world in which they and their descendants were to live. We all know how that turned out. With the exception of Abel, Adam and Eve’s descendants became so vile that God had to drown all of them except Noah and his family.
This abomination would be followed by three Godly attempts to raise up a people to be His lights to the Gentile (heathen) world. All three would fail, leading to the final downfall of man–the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord which Jesus will bring to an end upon His return to establish the earthly Kingdom of God where the Godhead and their Very Elect saints will live forever and from which they will rule the universe. Read The Great Tribulation, The Three Resurrections, the Kingdom of God and God’s Very Elect: Future Caretakers of the Universe. Key words Tribulation, Kingdom, Three and Caretakers respectively.
Now back to the theory that “A loving God would not take land from one people and give it to another people.” For those who believe that God has the same love for all people, read Psalm 5:5 where we are told that God hates (despises) those guilty of iniquity (Lawlessness). In Hebrew the word for “hate” is “aven,” which involves idolatry which pertains to the mind and man’s fallen nature. “Aven” has the same meaning as the English words “hate” and “despise.” Read Luke 10:16.
At this point we will take a general look at the prophesied creation of Great Britain and the United States of America. On his deathbed, Jacob, the grandson of Abraham whose name God changed to “Israel,” called his 12 sons (the 12 tribes of Israel) to him in order to prophesy over them by telling them what kind of people their descendants would become. Lastly came Jacob’s favorite son–Joseph–who brought his two sons–Ephraim and Manasseh so that his father could prophesy over them. Israel (Jacob) declared that “these boys will carry my name” (Israel) from that time forward. He then prophesied that Ephraim would become the world’s greatest commonwealth (gathering) of nations and Manasseh would become the world’s greatest single nation. The descendants of Ephraim later founded the British Empire–the world’s only true commonwealth. Then later Manasseh’s descendants would travel to the New World where they would create the greatest nation every to exist on earth. Britain and America respectively were the culmination of God’s promise to Abraham because of his obedience. Beginning in the early 1800’s, Britain and America became so great and powerful that together they controlled approximately 70% of the earth’s production. For this reason the terms “Great Britain” and “Mighty America” rightly described those two nations. But no more as we watch both nations flight away from the ways of the Lord. As goes the church, so goes the nation. Therefore, both once greatly blessed nations are rushing headlong into oblivion–EXACTLY AS DID THEIR SPIRITUAL FOREFATHERS–THE 12 TRIBES OF ISRAEL. Read Who and Where is Israel Today? key word–Today.
The final posting of this series will shed some Biblical light on the Jewish versus Palestinian conflict that has been going on for generations and today dominates much of the international news production. We will explore the history of that conflict, its present-day condition and its future outcome, all of which is prophesied in the Holy Scriptures. L.J.
