Anciently, the Father noted that the Word had become a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense to Israel because they refused to obey Him (Isa. 8:14). He stated in Deuteronomy 32:4 that by disobeying Him they had “lightly esteemed” Him by rejecting His lordship over them. When God established the New Covenant Church He placed Jesus over her as her head–Lord, master. However, Jesus became “… the Rock that the builders rejected.” The Rock that serves as the Head of God’s true church is the same Rock that brought the “church in the wilderness”–the children of Israel–out of Egyptian slavery (Acts 7:38) with “a mighty hand”–signs, wonders and miracles. In spite of the incredible displays of power from on high which had brought them to Mt. Sinai, the Israelites quickly rejected the Lord in favor of a golden calf–an Egyptian god which they believed had freed them from Egypt. Incredibly, they wanted that same god to lead them back to Egypt where they had been enslaved for generations. The One who had freed them had already become a Stone of stumbling to them because He did not operate according to their script. However, they were not ready to completely discard the true God. In Exodus 32:5 we find Aaron, having formed a golden calf for the people to worship and having built an alter before it, announcing that the following day they would hold a “… feast unto the Lord.” In this way they would worship one god while paying lip service to the other. Jesus spoke about this popular form of idolatry while on earth: “They do worship Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me” (Mat. 15:8).
Nothing has changed. Men still bow before the cross while rejecting the One Who was nailed to it by rejecting His Words. Religious man stumbles over Him by embracing His Words that seem to confirm their theology while rejecting those that prove them wrong, all the while claiming allegiance to Him. Those who come to God’s light can be saved; those who reject it cannot. God commands those who truly search for His light to “… come out of her–the Institutional Church–and be separate, touch not the unclean thing” (2 Cor. 6:17).
God leads His true saints by His Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 and 2 Timothy 3:16 He tells us that only those who are led by His Spirit can receive His inspired Truth. Not having the Holy Spirit the natural (worldly) man rejects the “things of God” because they are “foolishness” to him. Most of what I have written on this website is considered foolishness by the Counterfeit Church which has rejected the bulk of God’s Word. In Romans 8:14 Paul tells us: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” God’s Spirit leads one to believe and obey God’s Word. As proven by past postings, the church rejects most of It. Therefore, the church is not populated by sons of God. The church says God is wrong; God says the church is wrong. What do you say? L.J.
