God established the nation of Israel to be the light of the ancient heathen world. Her stated commission was to set an example of holiness for the Gentiles to see, embrace and follow in that God wants all men, including Gentiles, to be saved by becoming spiritual Israelites. As the Old Testament graphically reveals, God’s chosen people failed to fulfil their commission. They sinned time and again. Each time they would be overrun and defeated by heathen forces. They would then humble themselves before God and pray for deliverance. Time and again He forgave their sins and delivered them, thereby saving them from extinction. However, His patience had its limits. He eventually sent the heathen nation of Assyria to destroy and enslave the northern 10 tribes. He later sent the Babylonians to destroy and enslave the “Jews”–the southern tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Levi.

Following Israel’s failure, the Lord established and raised up her biological and spiritual descendants–the United States–to take His gospel/light to the heathen world. This greatly-blessed nation has, like her ancient ancestors, failed time and time again. Each time the nation came before Him in repentance. As He did for her ancestors, God repeatedly saved her from her sin-soaked self by answering her prayers, removing His curse and raising her up. Though she and her sister nation–England–have been instrumental in evangelizing much of the world, they themselves have fallen from God’s grace and are on the verge of extinction due to their rebellion against Him. Not only have they rejected God’s Word, they have sent their perverted version of His gospel throughout the world, thereby causing billions of unwitting God seekers to fall into Satan’s Catholic/Protestant trap. As a result, over 3,000,000,000 church people today are convinced that they are God’s children and are saved, born again and ready for the rapture, which they are not. See Hope and Salvation. Though England (descendants of Joseph’s son Ephraim) is equally guilty, this series concerns only the United States (descendants of Ephraim’s brother Manasseh). The descendants of these men were designated by their grandfather Jacob to be known by his God-given name–“Israel” (Gen. 48:14-16). As Genesis 48 reveals, Ephraim was prophesied to become a commonwealth of nations while Manasseh would become a great and powerful nation. As I proved in the series titled Who and Where is Israel Today, the descendants of Ephraim became the British Commonwealth while Manasseh’s descendants became the United States of America. These two Israelite nations have become exactly what Jacob/Israel prophesied they would become–the greatest nations the world would ever see. God promised what they would become. However, they would have to obey Him to retain their respective world statuses. Unfortunately, these “lights of the world,” like their ancestors, have failed miserably. And like their ancestors, God has sent them warning after warning in an attempt to turn them from their wickedness. As stated earlier, He has “spoken” to them repeatedly through such things as wars, disease epidemics, financial depressions, etc. But the most consistent curse God has used to “speak” to England and America is the weather. In this series we are looking specifically at the United States, her weather problems and her spiritual response to them. In the previous posting we studied how God, using abnormal weather patterns, has cursed the nation for her sins in the past. Now let us look at the times in which we are living and see how He is dealing with America’s sins today.

“WORST AGRICULTURAL DISASTER IN MODERN U.S. HISTORY” read a headline in June of 2019. AccuWeather reported that flooding in the Midwest during the previous month had caused $12.5 billion in economic losses. Though innercoastal rains and flooding has caused horrendous losses of lives, property and wealth over the past several years, that is only half of the story.

Category 5 hurricanes have become the “new normal” along the East Coast of the United States. Cat. 5 storms produce sustainws winds of 157 mph or higher. These slow-moving, circular monsters cause what is termed “catastrophic destruction.” Most of the areas affected by these “natural” occurrences become uninhabitable for long periods of time. Meterologists at AccuWeather are predicting an increase of category (cat) 5 hurricanes in the immediate future. A look at the recent past will reveal why.

The United States began keeping records of the different categories of hurricanes and their frequency of occurance in 1971. Records reveal that the U.S. has experienced 34 cat. 5 storms since that time. Thirty-four such storms over the past 38 years places the average at less than one cat. 5 hurricane per year. The nation has been able to handle that. The problem is that most of those hurricanes have hit the coastal United States since 2003. In 2005 there were 4 cat. 5’s. Between 2003 and 2005 there were 7. From 1971 to 2003 (32 yrs) there were 16 recorded cat. 5’s. From 2003 to 2019 (16 yrs) 16 cat. 5’s arrived on American shores. These statistics reveal that THE RATE OF ANNUAL CAT. 5’s HAS DOUBLED OVER THE PAST 16 YEARS. GOD IS SPEAKING. IS ANYONE LISTENING? Sadly, only a minutely few people know why our beloved nation is under attack from on high.

As a result of the nation’s infatuation with sin, the United States finds herself living “… as it was in the days of Noah” (Mat. 24:37-39) and “… as it was in the days of Lot” (Lk. 17:28,29). The Almighty tells us that the hearts of men were on evil continually while Noah was building the ark. He also tells us that Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities of the plain were steeped in homosexuality during the days of Lot. Notice that God killed everyone on earth in Noah’s day and masses of people during the time of Lot. Only Noah and his family and Lot and his daughters were kept alive. God is no respecter of persons. He destroyed the ungodly in the past. He is about to do the same thing to this ungodly nation where sin has become the “new normal.” And who is leading the way? The Institutional (counterfeit) Church’s “come as you are (a sinner), stay as you are” motto is the nation’s spiritual pattern.  As goes the church, so goes the nation. The result of the church-state rejection of God’s Word (see the Introduction to this website) America is about to reap the whirlwind God warned about in the Word millions own but few believe and obey.
