Is Prayer The Answer To America’s Problems? (Pt. 2)

Since her founding in 1776 the United States of America has, like her ancient Israelite ancestors, repeatedly obeyed and sinned herself into and out of God’s favor. The Old Testament chronicles the spiritual ins and outs of the Israelites as they repeatedly sinned themselves into insurmountable problems, then obeyed themselves back into God’s good graces. Their biological and spiritual descendants, whom the Lord led to populate the vast land space known today as America, began on a spiritual high as her leaders steered the people along the path that God had laid out for them in His Holy Bible.  Then, as spiritual liberalism gained a foothold, the peoples’ focus began to slip. From that point on the developing nation went into a series of mountaintop-followed-by-valley experiences. David Barton and David Manuel chronicled the nation’s up and down relationship with God in their excellent book titled The Light and the Glory. In this fine tome the authors wrote that the people, finding themselves suffering at the hands of an angry God, would turn to Him, pray and repent. He would lift the curse and bless them, only to have them rebel against Him again. Again He would curse them. Again they would turn back to Him in national repentance and prayer. Again He would forgive and bless them. The sin-repent-forgive-bless-sin-repent-forgive-bless cycle has continued to this day with ever more egregious sins and ever more devastating curses. Over time once-blessed America has sowed ever-more-deadly winds. Today she is beginning to reap the whirlwind God promised those who disobeyed Him.

Contrary to church opinion, God’s patience is limited. As the nation’s sins have become more and more egregious God’s response has become ever more deadly to the point that what was once deemed “abnormal” has become “normal.” The focus of this series concerns the nation’s response to the punishment God is inflicting on her and His reaction to it.

Beginning with the Israelites, God has always warned mankind before pouring out His wrath. I characterize His warnings as “voices.” The Almighty uses a variety of such “voices” to “speak” to sinning populations. Bible and history students will note that His most often used “voice” comes in the form of so-called “natural disasters.” What the United States is experiencing with ever greater frequency and devastation are unusual weather patterns. Over the past few decades God has sent ever-increasing, ever more devastating tornadoes, droughts, floods, mudslides, fires, heat, cold, earthquakes, sinkholes, and hurricanes. Bible students are not surprised, for He warned us that He would punish sinning nations using what man calls “nature.” In Isaiah 29:6 we find Him issuing such a warning: “You will be visited by the Lord of hosts with thunder, with earthquakes, with great noise, with storms, with tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” In Isaiah 28:2 He says: “Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one (the Holy Spirit) which comes as a tempest of hail, a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing.”  Note that it is “the Lord” Who punishes sinners with “natural disasters.” Numerous Scriptures tell us that it is God who causes those who rebel against His Word to be attacked and defeated by their enemies. Note also that the entire Bible is written to, for and about His people Israel, hundreds of millions of whom now populate the “Christian nations” of the world. God’s true church is populated primarily by Israelites who do not know they are Israelites. See Who and Where is Israel Today? According to the Scottish Declaration of Independence, following their global scattering due to their rebellion against God, the “Lost Tribes of Israel” settled in areas that are known today as Denmark (Dan), Iceland (Benjamin), Sweden (Asher), Norway (Nephtali), Finland (Issachar), Babylon and Judea (Judah), France (Zebulun), Italy (Gad), Holland (Reuben), Spain (Simeon), Britain (Ephraim),  United States (Manassa). See the book titled Sacred Fire by Peter Lillbac.

The irony of America’s fall is that she was established by God to be a light to the rest of the world, to show the Gentiles (Heb–heathen) how to obey Him and reap the rewards for doing so. In Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26 God promises those who would obey His Word that He would bless them with acts of “nature” that would make their lives enjoyable. Note the one condition for receiving such blessings as “rain in due season”: THEY HAD TO OBEY HIM. Neither the ancient Israelites nor their descendants, particularly those in the United States, obeyed Him. America now leads the world in such sins as blasphemy, adultery, lust, idolatry, covetousness, murder, drug addiction, venereal disease, materialism, etc. Sin is her number one export as she proudly flaunts her Satanic lifestyles before the rest of the world. In the following postings we will look at specific curses God is pouring out on this once-great nation, why He is doing so, and the futility of her response. God has turned His back on my beloved country. Except for the few socially rejected and condemned souls who make up God’s true church, the nation is about to feel the full brunt of His wrath as He afflicts her with woe after woe. All so-called Christian nations, along with the Jews of the Middle East, will suffer with her when they find themselves in the 3 1/2-year-long terror known as the Great Tribulation (2 1/2 yrs) and the Day of the Lord (1 yr.). But because she is the leader of global degradation, church-saturated America will suffer more than any other nation. God said that unto whom much is given, much is required (Lk. 12:48). God has given America much. Sadly, she has failed to meet His one requirement–obedience to His Holy Word–the same word by which every human being will be judged (Jn. 12:48). L.J.
