Is God Involved In Church Decision-making? A Case Study

Before launching into this posting I want the reader to understand that everything we see happening in a few churches at this time will be happening in every church in the near future.  Do not say, “Not my church.”  Many people have had to eat those words over the past several years.  The Political (Religious) Correctness movement is simply too powerful and church members too weak to stand against the wave of liberalism that is rapidly taking over local, state and national relationships among people.  Including church people.  God is no longer part of the mix when it comes to decision-making.  Expediency, experience and wishful thinking have replaced Him when things get serious.  The relentless flood of demands for inclusion, diversity and tolerance, combined with a sloppy agape “love them into heaven” mentality, will suck up every religious organization in its path.  Only God’s true saints–His Very Elect remnant–will stand firm as Satan takes absolute control of, first the church, then the nation, then the world.  By my calculation Satan controls 90% of the world’s population.  Concerning professing Christendom, what has slowly manifested in random showers of religious correctness over the past couple of generations is about to break forth into an all-consuming global storm.  The time will soon arrive when one will be required to openly stand up for the Lord and His Word, or bow down to Satan and his church doctrine.  In case you haven’t noticed, I am not only standing for the Lord, I am standing against the rapidly-rising religious and social storm God warns us about while proclaiming His warning to anyone with ears to hear the Lord’s Word in the spiritual wilderness that is world religion.  The following report is an example of where the church is heading.

Some time ago I was given a letter that had been sent out by a particular church’s leadership council informing the members of the congregation of the council’s decision concerning a troublesome issue–homosexuality.  The basic issue was not whether to allow sexual deviants to be part of the church–they were already actively involved.  The issue involved two decisions that had to be made: 1) whether to allow the church building to be used for same-sex marriages and 2) whether the church’s ministers could perform such marriages.  The council’s MAIN CONCERN involved the church’s relationship with the other member churches of their denomination’s state convention.  This information tells us that the church’s real problem did not involve the state convention, but rather the Lord they claimed to worship, believe and obey.  As you will see, neither the leadership council nor the congregation recognized their deadly priority error.

The letter I was given described the measures taken to determine whether the church would allow gay marriages within its sanctuary and whether the church’s ministers could conduct such marriages.  The nine-member council of elders sent the members the following epistle.  I will paraphrase its contents.  Four months earlier the team had asked the members for their “PRAYERS AND VOTES” regarding the two issues while reminding them that the church was a place that celebrated “INTELLECTUAL AND THEOLOGICAL DIVERSITY.”  The council was concerned that ambiguity relative to the issues would “CREATE HARM FOR THOSE IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY” by making them feel that they were in an “UNSAFE SPACE.”  The letter noted that “MANY AND VARIED PERSPECTIVES” had been voiced by the congregation during the season of “DEVOTED LISTENING.”  After four months of discussions, debates, sermons, teachings, prayer and meditation, the council had “VOTED YES ON BOTH ISSUES.”

The council wrote that its members had come to its “BEST COLLECTIVE/THEOLOGICAL CONCLUSIONS” based on “CONGREGATIONAL AND PASTORAL FEEDBACK.”  During the four months of deep prayer and inner searching the ministers had devoted three weeks of sermons and four Wednesday evenings to the “STUDY OF THE MATTER” during which they “LOVINGLY” delved into Biblical “INTERPRETATION and THEOLOGICAL DISCERNMENT.”  The council congratulated the “WORSHIPING COMMUNITY” for their handling of the “DIFFERING VIEWPOINTS.”  Following the “CHURCH’S DECISION” to embrace homosexuals (and presumably all other sexual deviants) church members decided to advertise their rebellion against the very Words of God by flying the multiple-colored sex-deviant flag in front of their church.  This tells any and all that this citadel of sin is open for sin business, that one can come as one is and stay as one is, that conversion is not a requirement for church membership and fellowship.  Christ’s command to the forgiven prostitute to “Go and sin no more” plays no part in church deliberations.  A fact that stood out to me is that NOT ONCE WAS EITH GOD OR HIS WORD MENTIONED IN THE LETTER.  That sin-loving congregation does not need God’s input.  By her words and actions she sends the following message to the God she supposedly serves: “Sit down and shut up.  We got this.”

Several questions leap to mind: Whose “intellectual and theological diversity” did the congregation consider during the “season of devoted listening”?  To whom were they praying and whose votes did they tally?  What harm would God’s Word have done to the queer community?  What source did they use while “studying the matter?”  From whence came the congregation’s “many and varied perspectives?”  Whom did the “worshiping community” worship while formulating its “differing viewpoints?”  To whom did the council pray and on whose words did they meditate before voting “yes” on both issues?  Obviously, “not God” and “not the Bible” is the answer to all of the above questions.

That church’s own words reveal that though four months were spent praying, meditating, discussing, sermonizings, teaching, etc. in search of the Christian concept of right and wrong, not once was either the Christian God considered.  The fact that Jesus commanded them to LIVE BY EVERY WORD OF GOD (Mat. 4:4) never crossed the church’s collective mind.  In today’s world, that is to be expected.  After all, that’s just Bible talk.  These spiritual giants chose to take a much more common sense approach.  They were following the lead of the pastor of another church in that area of Texas who had openly admitted to a reporter that his parishioners were “… stepping outside of the Bible” in their search for modern day right and wrong.  Knowing that God could not be depended upon to come up with the right answers, both churches ignored Him and His Word.  In so doing they took to themselves the power to determine right and wrong, which is exactly what Adam and Eve did after hearing and believing Satan.  Following in the spiritual footsteps of their original parents, the members of those churches continually dine on forbidden fruit placed before them by the same god who seduced Adam and Eve–Satan.  That fruit is known as “church doctrine.”

Sixteen times in the Holy Scriptures God tells us that sexual deviance, specifically homosexuality, is an abomination to Him.  Anyone daring to inform a congregation of this fact risks being accused of “legalism” and of “falling from grace.” What will happen when the few scattered churches now marching to the Religious Correctness drum beat all come together?  Join me next time to find out.  L.J.
