Two of professing Christianity’s most effective advertising organizations are the minions of the entertainment industry and the intellectuals who teach at our colleges and universities. Over the past several years this has been made clear by what we see coming from the soul-destroying duo relative to Christianity. A few examples are in order.

Several years ago a highly anticipated movie was produced by the Hollywood set. The movie bore the name Left Behind. The book was based on a very successful novel by the same name. The premise of the books and the movie was that Jesus Christ will one day surprise the world by secretly snatching away all church members and whisking them off to heaven just before the Great Tribulation sends the world into 3 1/2 years of terror. Both the book series and the movie were based on the universally believed ruse called “the rapture.” See The Rapture for the Bible truth concerning one of Satan’s most effective deceptions.

Some time ago I sat down to watch a Bible documentary which featured a number of self-professed “Bible scholars.” Knowing that they were university professors who teach both future preachers and students from the general university population I figured I needed to find out what “Bible truths” were currently en vogue. I turned on the program thoroughly convinced that I would hear Satan speaking through some of his false prophets. I was not disappointed. Many of his lies were presented as truths during the program, the worst of which I will highlight in this posting. One of the “ministers of righteousness” called our attention to the “fact” that God does not always tell us the truth in His Bible. As proof the scholar used the example of the Lord’s giving of the Ten Commandments to the Israelites after bringing them out of Egypt. It is true that God says in one place that He wrote the Law in stone while on Mt. Sinai. In another place He states that He performed the act from the top of Mt. Horeb. Much was made of the Lord’s “double-talk” which “proved” that He could not be trusted. This revered Bible expert revealed his ignorance of the people of the Middle East who are prone to giving multiple names to both people and objects. For example, the Sea of Galilee has three Biblical names and another local name. Peter was also called Kepa. Paul was also called Saul. Jerusalem is also called Zion and Ariel. Elijah is called Elias, etc. In some seminaries the Lord’s virgin birth is rejected while the rapture is declared a fact. According to these renowned experts in all things spiritual, God is an inveterate liar. Fortunately, professing Christianity has a cadre of “Bible Scholars” to set the record straight.

Several years ago Hollywood brought out a film in which Noah was depicted as a brain-damaged thug who obeyed voices in his head. God called this so-called reprobate a “preacher of righteousness.” I once began watching a film about Noah and stayed with it until it came time to load the ark. To my surprise, it was not animals he welcomed aboard, but people. Recently I began watching a movie titled The Shack. I had been told that it did not exactly follow the Biblical narrative, which proved to be gross understatement. According to Hollywood God is a black woman and the Holy Spirit is an Oriental woman. I quietly left the room when these “facts” were presented. The Shack and the Left Behind empire are openly embraced by many in the Institutional Church. Some are even using the occult-centered Harry Potter series.  L.J.
