Beginning in prehistory, the only agenda God laid out for His created beings is that His will be done in them as well as in the rest of the universe. However, as the Bible tells us, rebellion against His will, and therefore against God Himself, began with His first creation–angels–one third of whom chose to follow Lucifer instead of their Creator. Since that time Lucifer, now called Satan, has worked against the Lord in every way he can, especially through His (God’s) most cherished creation–man. The condition in which the world now finds itself reveals the power that Satan, aka the devil, has over mankind in general and the church in particular. This website was commissioned by God to prove this fact to any and all who will believe His Word.
The one and only purpose for the life of Jesus of Nazareth was to fulfil the will of His heavenly Father. This is brought out time and again in the Holy Scriptures. In Matthew 6 we find His disciples asking Him to teach them how to pray. Note that His prayer emphasized the fulfillment of God’s will: “… thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (vs 6). Several things stand out in this statement. Note that it is God’s will, not Christ’s will, not man’s will, but the Father’s will that must be done. The will of Jesus was singular and unchangeable–to fulfil the Father’s will. The words “be done” are imperative, meaning commanded and without deviation. The words are also in the present perfect tense, meaning that, chronologically, they are always in the “now” time frame. From the creation of the angels until the end of time the fulfillment of the will of the Father will be Christ’s and His saints’ only objective. Let it be known that the fulfillment of God’s will and the resulting reward is solely individual in nature. Salvation is not a group affair. As the Scriptures tell us, even in God’s true church only His Very Elect–His righteous saints–will be saved (1 Pet. 4:18). Remember also that the enemies of the righteous will often be those in his/her own family (Mat. 10:36).
That those in the Body of Christ must qualify for eternal life is brought out in several Scriptural passages. In 1 John 2:6 He tells us that if we call ourselves by His name we must “… walk (live) even as He walked (while on earth).” In 1 John 3:3 He tells us that to be saved one must “… purify himself even as He (Jesus) is pure.” Jesus notes in Revelation 3:21 that in order to join Him on His throne in the Kingdom of God one must “… overcome (Satan) even as I overcame.” These things the saint must do and continue to do until death or Christ’s return in order to qualify for eternal life which He will award the righteous upon His second coming. Matthew 10:20 tells us that “He who endures (in righteousness) to the end shall (then) be saved.”
At one point Jesus was telling His 70 or so disciples that things would get rough in the future. Most of them, having counted the cost and deciding that they were not willing to pay it, said, “This is a hard saying, who can accept it?” In Matthew 7:13,14 Jesus answered their question with one word–few. Not surprisingly, most of them “left Him and went back into the world” (Jn. 6:60). L.J.
