Following the Korean “police action” America returned to business as usual, a business that featured self-exaltation, self-satisfaction and self-direction. Once again God was placed on the shelf–except on Sun (god) day morning when billions gathered around the globe to pay homage to Tammuz, the Biblical sun god. See The Mark of the Beast. The first generation of official “me’ists” had come on the scene. Meism and Godism do not mix. “Me” would henceforth reign supreme. God had to go, but not completely as Father and Son’s names continued to be dropped from pulpit and podium each sun god worship day as the nation’s church people served and worshiped their only deity–themselves–and exalted their self-created religion–Catholicism/Protestantism. As the ancient hymn says, “You can run on for a long time, but ….” It was time for another move of God.
The place: Vietnam. Once again America was fighting. Once again she was sacrificing much human and financial treasure. Once again she lost. The war ended under the conditions set by man. God was sending warnings to those who laid claim to Him. But His message had changed. This time He was not calling the nation back to Himself; this time He was warning her to get ready for the hell on earth that would soon come her way. The Lord’s die had been cast. At this point nothing the United States can do will reverse the pattern He has established for her destruction, defeat and enslavement. Only individually is there hope for salvation.
The beginning of the end took place on what has come to be known as “9/11.” On that date God sent a band of Muslim pilots into the Twin Towers–two bastions of commercialism that represented what the U.S. was and is ALL about–money. Money equates to power. America is all about money and power–that which Americans spend an inordinate amount of time and effort trying to accumulate.
Since 9/11 America has been at war. That the nation had not learned her lesson was proven when our president stood on the Twin Towers ruins and announced that there would be only ONE response to the attack–power–all the power that money could buy. True, America had to respond with overwhelming manpower and firepower. The slaughter of innocents could not be allowed to stand. But a sure and final end to the war would not be coming as God replaced a warrior with a Muslim. The rest is history.
However, having a Muslim in the White House was no excuse for memory loss. America’s professing Christians had forgotten the response of such Biblical luminaries as Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb, Samuel, etc. who, when God’s wrath fell on the nation of Israel because of her sins, fell to their knees and prayed for the Lord to forgive those sins.
Where was the church in the days following 9/11? Where were the high-powered t.v. and radio preachers? Where were the voices calling out for personal and national confession of sins. Where were the calls for repentance? Only a few obscure souls could be heard calling for such a response to God’s wrath. Where were the multiplied millions of church people who call Jesus their Savior? Nary a peep could be heard. Instead of calls for confession and repentance we heard shouts for retribution from politicos as flags waved from porches. The silence remains to this day. America is spiritually dead.
To this day some 2/3rds of the American population claim to have a relationship with the Biblical God. Two thirds of a population can make a nation whatever they want it to be. The problem is that the vast majority of Americans, including the church, have what they seek–cell phones, cars, houses, the latest fashions, vacations, etc. Question: where are the true God-seekers? Answer: they are so few in number that they do not register on the nation’s significance scale. God is not exalted when the cross-topped buildings open their doors on Sunday morning–man is. Why should they seek God? They have found Him. Churchman’s god is himself; his religion is his own. The church has weighed the Biblical God in her self-rigged balances and has found Him wanting. However, the Lord has weighed the church in his righteous balances and has found her wanting. And His are the only balances that count. L.J.
