In Exodus 20 Moses, having met with the Lord for 80 days at the top of Mt. Sinai, presented to the Israelites the Ten Commandments which the Almighty had written in stone with His own finger, thereby making them permanent. The Lord’s use of the word “commandment” indicates that there is no alternative, no exception. What He commands must be obeyed to the letter. Otherwise, punishment will be exacted. The only exception to a God-issued command is when He rescinds it. For example, the commanded sacrifice of animals for Israel’s sins was rescinded by Jesus at the Last Supper. One of the Ten Commandments by which God’s people must live was not new to Israel. This commandment had been in force since Creation Week when God rested (“refreshed”) Himself (Exo. 2:2; 31:17) on the seventh day of that week. Then He did something that tells us that the seventh day is special to Him–HE BLESSED AND SANCTIFIED IT (Gen. 2:3). Though He states that EVERYTHING He had created (the entire universe) was “VERY GOOD” (Gen. 1:31), HE DID NOT SANCTIFY ANY OTHER PART OF IT. The word “sanctify” in the Hebrew is “qadas”–to be made holy, sacred, to consecrate, to dedicate, to set apart for holy use. In Isaiah 58:13 the Lord calls His Sabbath ““MY HOLY DAY.” He did not say that about any other thing He created. He specifically labeled THE SEVENTH DAY HIS HOLY DAY. God, who created everything that exists, sanctified only one other entity–His true saints (holy, sanctified ones), whom He set aside, consecrated and dedicated unto Himself. He calls them His “holy people,” His “peculiar people,” His “holy nation,” His “holy priesthood” His “peculiar treasure.” Doesn’t it seem reasonable that He would conjoin His Holy People and His Holy Day? He did exactly that. But Satan not only separated the people from the day, he convinced them to reject it. Read The Mark of the Beast. Key word–Mark.
God knew that Satan would use the Sabbath to lure men to himself, and that religious man would give in to him. For this reason He did three things relative to His Sabbath in order to emphasize its importance. He used more words in writing the fourth commandment than any other commandment–92 words (Exo. 20:9-11). He called His Sabbath “My holy day,” thereby placing His name in that day, making it “God’s holy day.” He also made a special Sabbath Covenant with Israel in which He designated the seventh day Sabbath as a “sign” that identified His holy, sanctified people (Exo. 31:12-18). This covenant would endure as a “perpetual covenant” that would last as long as heaven and earth remain. What, some wonder, does a covenant God made with Israel have to do with Gentiles? Does it not seem strange that of everything God created and declared “very good,” that He allowed man to eliminate and replace one of those “very good” things? According to church people, God allowed man to change the only part of His creation that He called “holy,” the only part He blessed, hallowed and sanctified, the very thing He designates as a “sign” that identifies His people, today known as His church. To honest students of the Scriptures, the above is nothing short of amazing. But to professing Christendom it is business as usual. Why? Because “The Old Testament (‘all that Jewish stuff’) was nailed to the cross.” And the New Testament, though not affixed to a wooden beam, is also subject to change, manipulation, and in many cases, rejection. The Scriptures reveal that church doctrine is nothing more that Satan-implanted, God-defying religious drivel, which perfectly describes the mental gymnastics used by his false prophets when trying to explain why God allowed man to change His Holy, blessed, sanctified, eternal Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, and why so many other church “truths” were borrowed from Babylonian mystery religions.
The religious slight-of-hand that I call the “Sabbath Switch” was performed by Pope Sylvester I during the Council of Laodicea in 364 A.D. Bowing to pressure from his sun-worshiping “converts,” he made the switch in order to maintain peace within the church. Evidently the Lord had been trying to arrange the switch for 333 years (31-364 A.D.). I find it interesting that it took Him so long to convince churchman that he was observing the wrong Sabbath.
Now let us leave the world of religious fantasy and enter the world of Biblical reality. For only there can we find God’s untarnished Truth. He tells us in Jeremiah 10:2 to “Learn not the ways of the heathen,” for they are an abomination unto Him. Nothing is more abominable than worshiping the heathen’s sun god on their sun god’s day–Sunday. Sunday Sabbathers disagree.
As stated, God Himself refers to the seventh day (Saturday) Sabbath as “My Holy Day.” In the Scriptures He calls that day of the week “MY Sabbath” 16 times, “THE Sabbath” 117 times and THE HOLY Sabbath” 16 times. In total, He refers to the Sabbath approximately 120 times. But according to Sunday Sabbathers He cares so little for His holy, blessed and sanctified day that He allows man to reject it, choose his own sabbath, then do whatever he wants to do on that day. This leaves no doubt as to who is in charge within professing Christendom. The Introduction page to this website lists many other proofs of Satan’s control of Catholicism/Protestantism.
Isn’t it interesting that God told Israel (along with the Gentiles who had become spiritual Israelites by obeying their God) to “REMEMBER” “THE” Sabbath day and to “KEEP IT HOLY” as a “PERPETUAL SIGN” that they were HIS PEOPLE? The word “keep” relative to the Sabbath commandment is a military term meaning to “surround” an entity so as to protect it, to keep it from being affected in any way. Religious man has not only failed to surround/keep/protect the Lord’s Sabbath, but totally reject it as a holy day, doing whatsoever he wants to do on that day. Jesus Christ said that as long as heaven and earth exist not one “jot or tittle” can be changed in the Law (Mat. 5:18). Heaven and earth still exist. The self-professed church not only changed the fourth commandment, she removed it and substituted one more to her liking. Jesus addressed those who commit such sins in Matthew 15:7-9: “You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, ‘These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. In vain do they worship Me, teaching for (My) doctrines the commandments of men.” Question: who convinced religious man to observe the Sunday Sabbath commandment instead of God’s Saturday Sabbath? Answer: Satan. L.J.
