When Moses led the nation (“house”) of Israel out of Egypt she had been there over 400 years, many of those years as slaves. During this time the people had lost their distinctive characteristics and had, for all practical purposes, become Egyptians to the point of accepting the Egyptian religion and its gods–bull calves. They had become so far removed from the true God and all things Israelite that when Moses arrived to deliver them from slavery they rejected him and the God He claimed had sent him. However, having witnessed the miraculous power of the Lord, Israel agreed to follow Moses out of Egypt. God’s miracles had practically destroyed the nation. The Egyptians were glad to see the Israelites, particularly their God and his messenger, leave the country. But the Israelites were not alone when they departed. Another group of people also left their life of slavery that night.
Egypt, the most powerful nation on earth at that time, had conquered a number of nations and had brought many of the conquered people back to Egypt as slaves. For this reason there was a considerable number of Gentiles in Egypt who were not Egyptians. These people had seen what Israel’s God had done for His people and decided to join them. As a result, when Moses led the Israelites out of the country many of those Gentile slaves came out with them. We are told this in Exodus 12:38 where it is written that: “a (racially) mixed multitude went up (out of Egypt) with them (the Israelites).”
According to the Lord’s calculations, there are two categories of people on earth–Israelites (His chosen people) and Gentiles (everyone else, called “dogs”). Without exception, one is either a biological Israelite or a biological Gentile. However, when dealing with mankind in general, God does not consider one’s biological, religious, nationality, etc. status. The Almighty looks at the heart, as the Apostle Paul makes clear in his letter to the church at Rome. In 3:29 he tells us that God is “the God of the Gentiles also.” In 2:12-16 Paul noted that ONLY THOSE WHO OBEY GOD’S LAW ARE HIS PEOPLE. In verse 13 he writes: “for not the hearers of the Law are just(ified)–cleansed from sin–before God, but the doers of the Law (including Gentiles) will be justified–remain free of sin.” People (Gentiles) who do not have the Law, but who obey the Law by nature, “show the work of the Law (righteousness) in their hearts (minds).” These biological Gentiles will be saved on the Day of Judgment when “God will judge the secrets of (all) men by Jesus Christ.” It is important that we understand what Jesus will use as His basis for judging mankind. In John 12:48 He says in no uncertain terms that the Words He had spoken will judge mankind. Those Words comprise the Holy Bible. Those Words were first spoken by God to the Word–the One Who became Jesus Christ–Who spoke them to His prophets and apostles who recorded them for posterity.
Having left Egypt, Israel absorbed the mixed multitude of Gentiles into her family upon their acceptance of Israel’s God and His Law. Having done so those Gentiles became spiritual Israelites, married into the tribes and became indistinguishable from them. Over time their Gentileness was forgotten. This is proved out in the Book of Exodus.
Once out of Egypt, God decreed that ONE LAW would govern everyone who came out of Egypt, including the biological Gentiles (“mixed multitude”) who would become spiritual Israelites by obeying that Law (Exo. 12:49). Nothing has changed, as this website has proven time and again. Having come out of “Egypt” (sin) one’s sins are remembered no more. Having been delivered from sin the former spiritual Gentile remains justified (sin free) by obeying “ONE LAW”–the Ten Commandments. Such obedience “to the end” (Mat. 10:22) will enable one to be saved at the return of Jesus Christ. Now let us examine the Law that all people, biological Israelite and biological Gentile alike, must obey in order to inherit eternal life. Obedience to this Law makes one a spiritual Israelite–a child of God.
The “ONE LAW” by which all must live was given to Israel from atop Mt. Sinai a few days after leaving Egypt. God Himself audibly spoke the Ten Commandments to the approximately 3,000,000 Israelites gathered below. Earlier, the people had agreed to obey His “voice,” thereby making them His people (Exo. 20). The same holds true today. Only those who believe and obey His “voice”–the Law–are His spiritual people. Their race, color, former religion, etc. have no effect on this rule. It is one’s heart (mind) condition that counts with the Lord.
The term “Law” can be confusing so I will try to explain the term. The entire Bible, the first five books of the Bible and the Ten Commandments are all referred to as “the Law” throughout the Scriptures. The Ten Commandments offer a condensed form of the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelation.
Let it be understood that in the eyes of God, there is neither Israelite not Gentile relative to spiritual regeneration (conversion) and entrance into His church (family). Spiritually, God does not take race, color, etc. into account. THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND OBEY HIS LAW ARE HIS CHILDREN/CHURCH. This does not include Catholics and Protestants in that they neither believe nor obey his Law, but rather have “nailed it to the cross.” In James 2:10 the Lord states that to break one of the Ten Commandments is to break the entire Law. By choosing to observe the first day of the week as her sabbath, thereby rejecting God’s commanded Sabbath, the Institutional Church has broken commandment #4. This renders her iniquitous–Lawless. Jesus warned that He would reject those who practice iniquity. This includes those who call Him their Lord and do many wonderful works in His name (Mat. 7:21-23). In this passage He is speaking to the billions of salvation seekers in the Institutional Church (Catholicism/Protestantism) who call Him “Lord, Lord,” do many religious things in His name but refuse to obey His Law.
